Big Love for my baby sister

So yesterday we were all thrown into a frenzy after getting a call that my youngest sister (by 6 years) was in the hospital. (This has happened like three or four previous times in the past few years.) Freak us out, already!!! Thankfully, she is home today and all is better again. In the meantime, I made this card for her having scared the living daylights out of us. LOL

Using the new Big Love release from Ellen Hutson, and another Ellen set, So Matcha, this is what I came up with. (Please pardon my dangling participle.)
All the words and hearts are from the Big Love set. To get this shadow effect, I first stamped with white ink from My Favorite Things, and zapped it a few seconds with the heat gun as it takes forever to dry. Then I shifted the paper slightly and offset stamped over it with Pinkfresh Studio Fresh Pear (I love this shade of green!) for the words, and Coral Reef (another delicious color) for the hearts. I had the cute little Geisha girl and the bamboo trees in my stash from some time ago, so I don't have the exact copic colors I used for them.

Inside message: All images from the Big Love stamp set. The red color for the heart is Distress Oxide, Lumberjack Plaid.
My two favorite ink colors from Pinkfresh Studio. I have them all in cubes, but these two colors I use most so they have to be full size! :)

More Valentines...

...from the newest Ellen Hutson release. So many many many possibilities with this release. I hope you're enjoying what I've shared so far. I'll definitely be making more so keep your eyes open and come back soon.

This first card features the Bokeh Dots stamp set with All the Love by Concord & 9th. Honestly, this was just a play around piece that seemed to morph into a card front I wasn't expecting to use. It's so fun when that happens, don't you think.

No foam tape, copic markers or bling of any kind on this one. Simple one layer.
For this card I  used the Ellen Hutson Folk Heart dies as well as the Big Love set (red heart). The "you" in black and the repeated "LOVE" are by Concord & 9th from the All The Love stamp set.
Inside message from Ellen Hutson, Big Love stamp set.

Again using the Folk Art dies, I made this one layer card using washi tape masking and several stamp sets for the different colored rows. Concord & 9th, All the Love; Ellen Hutson, Hello, I love you; Bokeh Dots; Big Love.

Product List:
Ellen Hutson, Folk Heart dies

Concord & 9th, All the Love
My Favorite Things, All Kinds of Love

HOME SWEET!

We are home from our annual winter in California. Yes, you’re absolutely right, it is still winter...so why are we home already. Well, Mother Nature had other plans this year.

But first, you may remember I had been lagging and lollygagging and procrastinating about getting packed and taking care of all the things that need to be done when leaving your home for months. I simply wasn't in a place, mentally, where I could be ready to go. Truthfully, I just didn't want to go at all. Really no reason for feeling that way, that I could come up with anyway, it was just a feeling and it wasn't going away the closer we got to our departure time. Of course, I wanted to see the fam and spend Christmas as we do each year, but my mind wasn't having it. And my horrible packing job showed my unwillingness to leave. LOL My craft bag was so sparse I barely had anything to work with - GAH!!! Naturally, I managed, but, back to the trip.

The weather was looking crappy and rather than take a chance of having to travel in the snow and nasty weather, we gave ourselves an extra day to get there. As we locked up the house and did a final check of everything, it started to snow. Yeah. Boy, were we glad we were driving away from that!

We arrived a day early at the Airbnb in El Cajon, and our host was gracious enough to let us stay that extra night. Little did we realize by the photos of the property that it was so small. It is perfect for one, but pretty cramped for two. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen well stocked with essentials, but the couch was broken and uncomfortable which made for a difficult stay. Also, it rained quite a lot so we weren't even able to take advantage of the outdoor space.

Mid-January my sister and I flew back to Washington to take care of some things she had in the works so we stayed with the folks while there. It was a great few days and K was able to get things moving along with her project. Then I got a call from the hubs, who stayed in El Cajon. It had rained so hard the Airbnb flooded. What the hell. Poor hubs had to pack up everything himself, then he went to stay at my sister's till she and I got back.
Kath and I got back from Washington the next day. After wrapping things up and getting the Airbnb situation straightened out (thankfully, our host was very very helpful and we were able to get a full refund for the week he had to be gone due to the flood), saying our goodbyes to the fam etc. we hit the road again for Washington last Saturday and you won't even believe this - it snowed at home. O.M.G. We arrived home on Monday, so happy to see the snow had mostly melted by then.

Can you even!? The good news is we are home and unpacked, and BONUS we have our Airbnb for next winter booked and confirmed. We even had a chance to drive by the area so we know right where it is when we get there next December. And it's only a mile and a half or so from my sister's house! Hope she can stand us being such close neighbors. Hahaha!!!

Big Love...and lemons

For today's card I've used some of the images I had in my stash that I colored before but had not yet used, along with the new release set called Big Love. I think the large LOVE word makes a great background on the card panel. I would have used the BIG as well but it would have been almost completely covered by the heart and flowers, so that didn't work with this design. Also, my pictures aren't showing well, as I have also stamped a subtle border of lemon blossoms along the edges of the panel.

The pattern paper is from the Simple Stories Vintage Lemon Twist paper collection, which I love so very much. The window box with the flowers and lemons are from the Simon Says Stamp, You Shine stamps and dies, and the sentiment is from Ellen Hutson, Squeeze the Day stamp set.

Cute sentiment.
I love the big LOVE here. And the salvaged patina distress ink color matches perfectly to the flowers in the window box and the butterflies on the pattern paper.

More Valentines with Ellen & Julie

Don't you just love the newest release from Ellen Hutson? Such cute images, thank you, Julie!!, and such funny punny sentiments to go with them. Here are a few more, in mini size, that I created using the Ellen Huston Folk Hearts along with the new release sets, Jammin' and Hello, I Love You.

First I stamped random backgrounds on white cardstock using the aforementioned stamps as well as the Bokeh Dots stamp set, also from Ellen Hutson. I then cut the hearts from this background piece, also cutting four more hearts from plain, white cardstock for the backs of the cards. I do this to provide a sturdy card, and it also hides any ink that may bleed through to the back.

I added other elements to the cards, once I placed the colored images, I used other stamp sets that fit the theme. "Special Delivery" is from a Heidi Swapp Christmas stamp set, xoxoxo is hand written, and the "hugs" speech bubble is from My Favorite Things.
I added glossy accents to the strawberry jam jar, and for the loaf, cut several pieces of the toast. With a paper piercer I made the holes for the baker's twine (as I don't have my crop-a-dile with me).

Valentines with Ellen & Julie

Cute!!! Fell in love with the new release from Ellen Hutson, by Julie. Adorably fun punny stamps and sentiments for cute tags and cards. So many possibilities and such fun to play...er, I mean, work with. Check out some of the cuteness I made since getting my hands on them a couple of days ago. Oh, and p.s. I'm nowhere near finished playing. LOL

I had to use this sentiment for no other reason than it's too cute not to. I modified the jam jar and made it grape jelly. These images are from the Jammin' stamp set (except the plop of jelly and the spoon, which I made by hand).

Added glossy accents to the jelly on the toast as well as the jar.

Julie made the cutest little stick of butter for this set. I couldn't not use it! Again from the Jammin' stamp set, including the 'butter together' sentiment. The hearts are from the Hello, I Love You set, also from the new release.
The 'you and me' sentiment is by My Favorite Things from the All Kinds of Love sentiment set (retired). The pattern paper is also by My Favorite Things, from the Wildflowers 6x6 paper pad, also retired.
Some more images I colored that haven't made it to cards yet. Not to worry, they will soon!

Birthday card

I love these little images from the Bear Ware stamps and dies from Ellen Hutson, by Julie. I used foam tape behind the balloon and the bunny for dimension.

The pattern paper is the Wildflowers 6x6 paper pad from My Favorite Things. I attached the hemp cord to the balloon and bunny using glossy accents.

With so many images in this set, you will find many, many uses for them. This particular set is geared toward summer activities, but there are also other sets in other themes. And they are all just adorable!
