You, too, can make flowers

Today is a repeat post due to popular request. I love love love making flowers and really, it's not difficult to do, and they are fun to make. All you need is a circle! If you have scissors and paper, you're practically done already. LOL! Let's get started:

Cut your shapes - circle, scallop or both. Whatever size you want. I used the Scallop and Stitched Circle Dies by My Creative Time. These are approximately 1 1/2 inches across.

Cut each shape into a spiral leaving a circle center on which you'll secure your finished flower.

I have these curved jewelers tweezers that I picked up in the $1 tool bin at the fair many years ago. These things are a staple in my crafty tool arsenal, let me tell ya!! Best buck I ever spent. ;) Ok, now beginning at the outside where you first made your cut, roll the paper with the right side (the side you want to see when it's finished) to the inside - NOT as I have done here - I had to re-roll this one after I took the pic. Oops

Now that your flower is rolled, let loose of it and let it 'relax'. It will open a bit and you can manipulate it to the size and tightness you want before gluing. I recommend hot glue for flower making. You'll put a small glob of glue on the center circle portion and press the flower into the glue.

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! At this point you can leave it as is and add leaves or you can roll the petals outward, ink the edges, or even add beads to the center.

Do the exact same thing with the plain circle, leaving a circle at the center for gluing.

Roll it up, let it relax, manipulate the size and shape, and glue down. (See my other flower in white? That's the one I re-rolled the other way so the pretty side of my paper would show. LOL)

And here are the finished flowers. Who would guess they started out as flat circle shapes!

Thanks for coming by. Be sure to watch here and on facebook for the upcoming 12 Days of Christmas with My Creative Time. If you're looking for gift or decor ideas, card designs or anything crafty for the holidays, you won't want to miss all the inspiration we have to share with you. :) AND prizes and giveaways too, of course!

* * * * *

I love layering, so these new dies are right up my alley. For my first project with these new dies I made a fridge magnet for my mom. It's a "all hearts go home for Christmas" thing without the actual words. I miss home so much, especially at Christmas time. In fact, today marks 14 years and a few days since I moved here, away from my real true home. Sigh. Anyhoo, I digress!

Have you ever seen The Jerk, with Steve Martin? {1979 movie} Well, if you have, then you know what I mean when I tell you how excited I am when the new phone books come out!!!

But for me, it's not that I'm listed in the book, and that I'm finally "somebody" {giggle}. For me it's the FREE MAGNET that is always stuck to the front!! Woohoo! Free crafty supplies!! And that's how this project started. Oh and btw, I have never called this place so I can't give any reviews. LOL

These dies cut so nicely. No worries whatsoever. I didn't even need to shim.

Cut your paper of choice.

Oops. I forgot to get a pic of the papers adhered to the magnet and the shaker box before I put them together. {Sorry.} I made a shaker box using QK nesting circle dies and the My Creative Time, Christmas House stamp.

If you use seed beads, or anything thicker than punched cardstock for example, you'll likely need to double the height of your window to accommodate movement. I used two stacks of foam tape.

For project two, I used the curly label die and the new stitched layer die. Super quick little gift for the bank teller, maillady, teacher, manicurist or neighbor. I used the tri fold 3x3 card die for the base.

And the You're Perk-fect stamp set for the sentiment and adoramous coffee beannies!!

So. Are you still awake after that post?! You only have a couple more blogs to hop to if you started at the beginning. If you started here first, my apologies. LOL Better refill your cup and head over to Emma's blog for the rest of the hop. ;)

for peace and comfort

Today's card is a simple sentiment for a friend. These are always the hardest cards to make, in my opinion, but no less heartfelt. RIP Nikki Clark, age 11. May God bless your family and give them comfort as they grieve your passing and remember the good times. Amen.

Phillipians 4:7
And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Happy Tuesday. If you have the week off, I hope you're enjoying every minute. With Thanksgiving later this week, I'm flitting around like a chicken, er, turkey, with its head cut off trying to get caught up on housework and grocery shopping and menu making for impromptu dinner companions. The kid and two of the grand-kidlets will be joining us, we just found out!!! So without further adieu, I present today's project. Enjoy!

***** ***** *****

For the hop today and tomorrow, I am showcasing the new Label Font stamp set. I just love it and you can do so much with it! I made this notebook cover and memo book for one of the grandboys from the jeans that are becoming cute little bags for the girls.

I used the label font here with Staz On ink, as well as the pencil from the All Around Everything Accessories set and one of the mustaches from What's Growing On.

The notebook inside that I made with my Bind it All. I used paint chip samples for the covers, and for the name label I use Just Simply Live alphabet stamps. And of course another bitsy little mustache! Feliciano is 7 and he LOVES mustaches.

Simple pocket to slide the back of the notebook into. When he uses up all the paper in this one, he can replace it with another. :) I think he'll like it!

This is the hop line up for today. As you can see, I'm not on the schedule for today, but you will still want to visit the other designer blogs and leave comments to be entered in the drawing. :) And check back here tomorrow -- I AM on the schedule and will have another project for you using the awesome Label Font stamp set. All righty, let's get hopping!

Emmy will be 5 next week, marking another milestone for us. She is the youngest of our 8 grands, which means there will be no more babies in the fam. It's kinda sad, but we are SO BLESSED to have so many I think we'll still be ok! :)

And look at this.....My Creative Time sneezed ALL OVER my birthday gift tag!!!! Can you guess how many goodies from My Creative Time I used here?!!

I altered the new Vintage Label Die Banner to make a pennant banner, and the new label font for my letters, which I heat embossed for a "real" label look...

...and the banner again for "birthday", which is from the new Vintage Sentiments set. For Emmy's name, I used the also new circle font stamp set, and the Vintage Label die as my base. I used glossy accents on the stamped circle letters to make them dimensional. Love that!

Here I used the heart die from MCT 100% Sweetness, the star die from the Build a Banner Kit, and sentiment from Wow, So Many Candles stamp set. And for the main tag base I used the large tag die.

Were you able to keep track?! In addition to all the fantastic stamps and dies by My Creative Time, I added a tulle bow at the top, because what 5 year old little girl doesn't love tutus and sparkles?? I know Emmy sure does!!! Thanks for looking today. Be sure to join us tomorrow for day one of our two day release hop! I'm scheduled for Friday, but I hope to get a project up for Thursday as well, so stay tuned. :)

Welcome to Day 2 Sneak Peeks!! I can't stand it I love this release so much. If you know me at all you know I'm a font freak and die girl from way back. Well, a die set in one of my fave fonts almost put me over the edge. ROFL!! I made my own chipboard letters and came up with this ornament for my mom. Her favorite color is blue.

Getting started, you must first empty the box of your favorite snack crackers. Mine happens to be these Club Minis. I would be embarrassed to tell you how many of these boxes I have in my cardboard stash, so I won't tell you. I looooove these crackers. So there's a lot of boxes.

Regardless what your favorite snack cracker or cereal might be, cut two sets of letters from the empty box; one set with the inside of the box as the right side, and one set with the outside of the box as the right side; as well as one set from your choice of paper. I used Snowfall, by BoBunny.

Adhere the two cardboard sets together so that the kraft color side/the inside is showing on front and back of the letters.

Then add the pretty ones on top! You now have the most awesome chipboard in the universe. At least, in my opinion. ;)

Here's how it looks, pre-prettied up, on the label which adorns the front of the ornament.

Adhere to the star using hot glue. Then add a touch of bling and a few snowflakes. Add some sparkle and done!

Thanks for coming by today. I can't say enough how much I love this release, and I just know you will too. The dies and fonts are just superb - perfect for any type of project!!!
