Cutest Halloween Ancestors

What a cute idea from Julie Ebersole for Ellen Hutson. These ancestral ghost portraits are adorable!

I couldn't decide which portraits to use on my card so I used them all. For the old and worn looking wallpaper background, I used THS-018 stencil by Tim Holtz, called Doily, with dark gray ink for an old look. I think it worked pretty well for the look I wanted.

The portraits. LOL I love the class picture in front of the old schoolhouse. And grandma in her red and purple hat.
The sentiment is included with the Ghost Ancestors stamp set, but the black kitty is from a set by My Favorite Things.

Happy Halloween crafting!

Trick or treat!

People. As you probably can tell, Ellen Hutson is one of my favorite places to shop for adorable stamps and dies. With the cutest images by Julie Ebersole, Ellen's store climbed quickly on my list of where to shop online! Today's card is more proof of the cuteness. From the newest release, these images are so much fun. Julie has done it again! Take a look.

These spooky images make the greatest Halloween scenes. The little trick or treating ghost is so cute carrying his treat bag. I used the faded dot stencil by Tim Holtz for the background and added a little blending with black for the dark sky.
He doesn't seem the least bit afraid of the haunted house. Even the bats don't bother him.
I love all the detail in this little haunted house.
Not a lot of supplies needed to create this fun Halloween scene.

September EBE Challenge, card4

I really had too much fun coloring all the pink pumpkins. There were so many left after my first three cards that I decided to put them all on one last card. (I say 'last' but who am I kidding - you and I know there will probably be more!)

For this big pile of pumpkins I wanted to do a 'scene'. Usually I'm not really into scenes, mostly because I never seem to like mine when I finish. LOL But this was fun and I do like the end result. This was a "think outside the box" personal challenge.

I used four stamp sets for this card. The larger pumpkins are My Favorite Things from the Witch Way is the Candy stamp set, and the smaller three with vines are from Ellen Hutson, Leading Ladies, Cozy Lady set. The ghosts, bats, grass and trees are all from the Ellen Hutson Halloween Boo-quet set. Do you recognize the grass and tree? They are all done with the little bunch of string image meant for the "boo-quet" for the witch's hand - stamped upside down for the grass and in a cluster for the tree.

And how about the night sky and graveyard...I used the Ellen Hutson Stay Cool stamps for all the rest. Yes, the heat embossed moon, stars and gravestones are all from that set! For the moon, I used the solid half circle and just taped off a portion to create the crescent shape and heat embossed in yellow. The stars are the little sparkle cluster (I have no idea what to call it, but that's how I see it), heat embossed in white before inking the dark sky background. The gravestones are in that set as well, only shown flipped around. Use your imagination and I bet you can find lots of new uses for stamps that are intended for an entirely different purpose.

Fussy-cut sentiment (which I totally forgot and had to add at the last minute!) is from this Stay Cool set as well. Even though it's a summer release, the "Chill Vibes" has a whole new meaning when it is attached to a Halloween card! *shiver*
I hope you like this one. It's a little out of the box for me, but I think it turned out cute and very Halloween-y. Thanks for looking!

September EBE Challenge, card 3

For the Ellen Hutson Color Trends Challenge, September. I love the pink pumpkins! Such a fun color combination. And there is no rule you have to use it for a Halloween card, either. But I did, so here you go.

I wanted to do something fun for the background of this whimsical Halloween card. With the non-traditional pink pumpkins and smiling ghosts, it seemed a good fit. I used this argyle stencil by Pinkfresh Studio in the pink and orange shades of the challenge.

The ghosts are from the Ellen Hutson, Halloween Boo-quet set by Julie. Aren't they so fun.
The large pumpkins and sentiments are from the My Favorite Things, Autumn Blessings stamps.
Another fantastic color combination for the EBE Color Trends Challenge!

My Favorite Things, Color challenge 196

I'm back with another challenge entry. This time for My Favorite Things. I've used the newest pumpkins from the Greatest Blessing stamp set for this one. Great color palette.

The splotches are from an old My Favorite Things stamp set, Jumbo Abstract Art. These shapes are great for a no-themed background or when you want elements that don't necessarily belong to the theme of your card. The  curvy stripes that look sort of like a net are from the Stay Cool design elements stamp set by Ellen Hutson.
I used the leaves from the stamp set as a border. I like how it turned out. It adds "just enough" interest to keep from being boring and not too busy.  The sentiment is also part of the Greatest Blessing stamp set.
Isn't this a great color combo?

September EBE Challenge, card2

Another card for the September Color Trends Challenge at Ellen Hutson, LLC. I don't know what it is about pumpkins, but I love creating with them. They're fun to color, and I'm finding they are even more fun when you use unexpected colors on them. This time though, it's a no-color pumpkin! Interesting, yes?  It's very "fall" but doesn't scream Halloween. Hope you like it!

This background die is by Ellen Hutson, called Nordic Cross Cover die. I thought about putting a color behind it, but nothing seemed to fit the look I was going for so I ended up just inking the very edge and blending a little in the center. To make it pop I used foam tape to adhere it to the front panel and that was just what it needed!
Besides the cut out panel, the only other foam tape is on the top pumpkin.

September EBE Challenge card1

Boo! It's Halloween time for crafters and I'm using it as my theme for the September Color Trends Challenge at Ellen Hutson. Check out the EBE blog for inspiration. I have so many more images colored that I didn't use, there will definitely be more entries coming for this challenge. I love, love, love the colors for this month's Color Trends Challenge. Here's my first entry.

Still hard to see but better in this photo is the clear embossed crackled-look background stamp over the ink blending. (Another photo below shows it even better.) I used Pinkfresh ink colors for the blended background.
The only foam tape on this one is behind the sentiment. I used my powder brush, believe it or not, but I still got a LOT of residual black powder. I think because I used copic super smooth cardstock rather than the usual white cardstock I use for most everything else. In the end, I think it looks kinda cool though with the Halloween theme.

Lots of fun pieces for more this color challenge.

"Sorry I'm Late" ...

Good morning! Today's card is another from the Nature Walk stamp set by Julie for Ellen Hutson. This fun color combo is not exactly a typical fall look, but I think it totally works with this stamp set.

The background stencil is by Tim Holtz. I used a blending brush and Speckled Egg distress ink.

I love this teeny tiny stripe die I cut three times to make this border.  And the sentiments.....
....aren't they so cute! I love Julie's punny sentiments and these are perfect.
Only a little bit of foam tape on this one. Mostly I just layered the pieces for dimension.
Just a few colors and not a lot of supplies for this one either. I did forget to include the stencil in the photo, but this is pretty much all I needed for this card. Thanks for looking!

Happy Trails

This one is another card using the Ellen Hutson, Happy Trails stamp and die combo. I love these cute stamps, even though they are not my typical choice as these are solid and colored with inks, rather than with markers or pencils.

Again, I wanted a simple and quick design to keep the focus on the cute images. I want this camping trail in real life in these colors. Wish me luck. LOL

I used glossy accents on the windows. It's got a few bubbles which bothers the heck out of me, but I can live with it. (I think.)
The super subtle background here is a layering stencil by Tim Holtz. As with the previous one, it doesn't have a name so I call it rainbows (even though I didn't actually use the rainbow parts of the stencil here).
Here you can see the rainbows in the stencil so you don't think I've lost my marbles. LOL I just taped them off for the background as I just wanted the little shape elements.
Product List:
Ellen Hutson, Happy Trails stamp and die combo
Tim Holtz, layer stencil THS154
Distress Inks, Salvaged Patina, Speckled Egg, Peeled Paint, Gathered Twigs, Hickory Smoke, Black Soot, Peacock Feathers (sentiment)
My Favorite Things, Sweet Tooth pigment ink (I used this with the salvaged patina to get the lighter color for the lower portion of the camper)
Glossy accents, My Favorite Things cardstock, Summer Splash
