Box card -This ain't no chicken coop....

Ok, before I get to the pics, there's a backstory. To make a long story short, my son, who had chickens, lost all but one of them to coyotes. To save his last chicken, Bertha, he puts her in a dog kennel and keeps her in the house at night. When he lets her outside she makes it clear she doesn't like this arrangement and chases and bitches at him. LOL With his birthday coming this summer, I had to make this card while it was still fresh in my mind. I think it's kind of hilarious.

I used the super cute Good Egg stamps and dies from Ellen Hutson for the Berthas and her disapproving flag message, and the eggs. (More info in product list below.)

Bertha tells it like it is, man!
Folded flat for mailing.
I neglected to get a snap of the copic colors I used this time. Oops!

MFT Outside the Box, Florals

The new box card challenge is up. I really had no idea what to do with a floral theme until I just sat down and colored a bunch of flower images, then this card started forming in my head. I think I like it.

Unfortunately, this stamp set is no longer available, but the idea doesn't care what flowers you use, so anything you like will work. I added a few bees, and the leaves are some of my favorites from yet another set (list below). Finally, the little girl patiently waiting to see her sister again, is from the new release set, Sittin Pretty by Birdie Brown for My Favorite Things.

Folded flat to show how easy the box cards are to mail.

Day 10 - Final day of the Daily Marker Coloring Challenge

Here we are at the very end. But don't be dismayed if you missed out this time, the next coloring challenge has already been announced!!! Mark your calendars for AUGUST 1. This one will be a 30 day challenge. If you have questions, see the blog for details. Thanks so much, Kathy Racoosin! Now for today's project.

I must be honest and tell you I actually colored some of these images last night. I had an idea, and when that happens, it's hard to turn it off. LOL But I did finish this morning and got my card put together to share with you for day 10. I'm already thinking about the next card with this adorable stamp set from My Favorite Thing, another Birdie Brown creation.

Folded flat. Still works, even with the cork paper.
Colored images
I thought this might be helpful to some who have asked about how I put these together. For nearly all the images I color, I cut out a plain cardstock piece that I glue to the back. This makes them sturdier, but also covers the 'bleed' you get on the back of the colored pieces. So, once the base is done (super simple with the dies - MFT's youtube channel has a video for this part of it-link below), I take the blank cutout pieces-before gluing them to the colored pieces of course, and with repositionable adhesive, arrange them how I want them on the finished card. This saves a lot of headache if you should glue something then later wish you had put it somewhere else. In this case, because the cork paper is quite flimsy on it's own, I added cardstock to the backs of those pieces after it was all put together. This gave it more strength to hold the glued pieces and steadied it so it wasn't bendy like you see here.
All the copics used for this project.

Day 9, Daily Marker Coloring Challenge

For Day 9 of The Daily Marker Coloring Challenge, I used the current color challenge, #164, for My Favorite Things, as my palette. Isn't a pretty combo? Who knew a brown shade would be so complimentary to the bright pink, blue, and greens! I love how this turned out with my new stamp from Honey Bee Stamps, called Pretty Postage.

Day 8, Daily Marker Coloring Challenge

We are near the end of the daily coloring challenge, and I'm wondering how I'm going to keep myself occupied when it's over. Just kidding! LOL The coloring challenges are so great though, and I do believe participating in them has improved my coloring skills. Big thanks to Kathy Racoosin, of The Daily Marker, for hosting these fabulously fun events and sharing her wonderful talent.

My project for today is this reading themed box card. These cute Birdie Brown kids for My Favorite Things are adorable (but then, so is everything Birdie Brown does!) and made this a fun card to create. I'm so happy all of our kids enjoy reading....even the grown ones still do.

For this card, I used just one stamp set. All images and sentiment are from the Our Story stamps and dies. (Full product list below.)

Day 7, The Daily Marker Coloring Challenge

Can't believe we're already at the back half of the 10-day challenge. I don't know what it is about it, but I really enjoy them! I've got a LOT done this time too. Today's box card is a back to school theme. I'm so very happy for the kids who are back to in-person learning!! Our kids in Washington go back Monday. I can imagine how excited they must be. :) So I made this card for the littles in Cali, my great-niece and great-nephew who went back yesterday - and WITHOUT the plexiglass dividers in the classrooms. FINALLY some normal! Anyway, to the card......

I used the Level Up box card dies (again) by My Favorite Things (link below). This styles seems to be becoming my favorite. I "borrowed" B's first day back outfit for my color choices for the little girl. Brielle wore a super cute baby blue and white checked jumper and white blouse and looked absolutely adorable, as she tends to do. LOL
Here's a sort of "top" view.
I added the banners because I'm sure that's how the teachers and kids are feeling about being back in the classroom. 400 days without in-class learning and being with school friends is a looooong time!! I'll bet there are plenty of banners in classrooms right now.
Most of the images are from the Class Act stamps and dies by My Favorite Things. Such a cute set, it was brought back out of retirement and is currently available at the store (link below)!
Of course, as always, it folds flat for ease in mailing, fitting into an A2 envelope.
The images I colored before I finished the card.

Copic colors used.
