Card Class, Day 5: Textured Backgrounds

Wow this week has gone by fast! Here we are already on Day 5 of class, PLUS it's Friday!!! Friday is my favorite! :) I made several designs for today's class. It was just too much fun to stop. Here are a few of them:

For the white one, I used a score board only.
The pink roses are a stencil by Tim Holtz using picked raspberry distress ink to color white embossing paste. Love the shade of pink it made!
The green is also a stencil (I think it might be made by Plaid?). I used white embossing paste over the top, let it dry, then inked with peeled paint distress ink.

These will be used on cards, along with several other backgrounds not pictured. Remember, you can take this class at your leisure if you missed the "live" presentation this week. Simply sign up at Online Card Classes. There are lots of other classes available as well.

Have fun! :)

Card Class, Day 2: Resist Backgrounds

For today's backgrounds, I used an emboss resist technique. I love how the underneath stamp shows through the clear embossing. In my examples, it almost looks white, but these are all just clear. Pretty cool.

Script background by My Creative Time, Memento Rose Bud ink, Versamark ink, Clear embossing powder, Geo Borders by My Creative Time, Hero Arts Orange Soda ink

Card Class, Day 1: Background Check

I'm taking this class because I have a real hard time coming up with imaginative, creative, or even interesting backgrounds for my cards. Today I discovered I really do suck at backgrounds. LOL I tried four times and failed 3 1/2 times. Here are my first two attempts; I'm calling the one on the right the 1/2-pass/1/2-fail. LOL. Homework after class for me!

The technique is simple enough - for most people! In the sample on the left, I used too much water; on the right, well, it looks like not enough water, but honestly I'm not sure if more water would have helped. I shall try again.

Distress Inks: Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio
Watercolor paper, Perfect Pearls, Mini-mister, Ink blending tools
Rose background stamp by My Favorite Things

New Melonheadz Challenge - Sports!

It's time for the new challenge with Melonheadz. This challenge is anything sports related. I made this card for grandgirl Grace. Can you guess what image I used?? This started out as a boy basketball player from the Sports Franklin Lewis set, but with a little tweaking, I turned it into a volleyball girl with short hair. I think she turned out so cute, and looks just like Grace! :) She is also wearing Grace's number and school colors.

Join me and the rest of the team for this fun Melonheadz Sports-related challenge. Link up your project here. :)

My Favorite Things, color challenge 25

Love this color combo for the newest card challenge (see link below) at My Favorite Things. And I had to use the Birdie Brown, Whole Herd and Green Pastures sets for my party card (store link below). The cows are just so cute!

Here's a closer look at the "whole herd" who don't look ready to come home yet....so I guess the party is still going! Hahaha! Copic markers and foam tape help give the design more texture and dimension.

Here you can see the foam tape lifting the farm girl and the head of the cow herd. ;)

Also, let me just say how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE the MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink with copic cardstock and markers. Like buttah!

I was unable to master a great photo of the doggie on his wobble. Oh well. I keep trying....one day I might make it. LOL
