Melonheadz Back to School Challenge

Soon, the kidlets will all be back in school, if yours aren't already. Here in Washington state, most schools start after Labor Day, so the kids have a few more days left of summer. Today's new challenge is school-related. I chose to use the adorable Backpack Kidlettes and Lunch Ladies (for the apple) sets for my card today.

In addition, I used the Write On and Love to Learn stamps and dies by My Creative Time.

I love back to school and still have a blast shopping the supplies every fall. LOL Is it weird that I love a brand new 24 pack of Crayola crayons all for myself.....?

Happy back to school, all you moms! Enjoy every free minute you have once the fall routine is in full swing again. :) And used some of that free time to play with me and the rest of the Melonheadz Design Team and link up your project here!

My Creative Time Alumni Guest Designer post

Hello and happy Friday!! It's been a while since I've posted for the My Creative Time Alumni Team, and I'm so glad to have a couple of fun projects for you today. In the descriptions I've provided links to each of the products I used in my cards for easy access to the My Creative Time Shoppe if you'd like to check out today's featured products.

My first project is this card using the We're Better Together stamps and dies set. Super cute coffee and donuts set. The label for my sentiment is from the Thankful Heart set.

Do you recognize some of the older MCT sets I've used with them? I stamped the coffee sleeve with the burlap background stamp from the Build a Banner set, then stamped over that with the coffee beans from the You Are Perk-fect set. Twine, teensy button, foam tape, and glossy accents "perk up" the cute die elements.

Then I made this baby card with coordinating envie for hubby's niece who is expecting her first baby in late November. The sweet baby giraffe is from the adorable Hello Baby set. Holy cuteness, I can hardly stand all the adorableness!!

I used the onesie die to create the actual gift enclosure card and the giraffe to embellish both the card/onesie and....

...the matching envelope.

The inside message, as well as the stars and teeny feets, are also part of the Hello Baby set.

Thanks for checking me out on Alumni Guest Designer day! :) Come back soon!

Kimberly's Birthday Hop!

Hi Everyone!!
Welcome to Kimberly’s Birthday Facebook hop! Today, Kimberly is celebrating her Birthday
and reaching 500+ likes on her Facebook page! There will be giveaways, trivia and a craft challenge!

For my project, I made a shaker card. But I didn't stop there. I also put together this adorable mini birthday banner and cupcake toppers to match. The cupcakes are lemon cake with lemon filling, frosted with cherry icing and crystal sprinkles. SCRUMPTIOUS!

Shaker card filled with sequins, tied with twine and teeny cupcake button. Pattern papers are by Kaisercraft. Mat dies, jar lid, sentiment and "sweet" word die by My Creative Time.

The jar shaker was so much fun to make. I used a stamp by Peachy Keen Stamps with Staz-On ink on a sheet protector, then sealed it with my WeR Memory Keepers Fuse tool. Love that thing!

 Cupcake toppers.

Mini-banner cut on my Cricut. The letters and stars background on the pennants are from My Creative Time, Fun Pocket Sentiments and Chalkboard Birthday.

Oh, and p.s. The blue cupcake plate - I made that from a clear, glass plate and matching goblet I picked up at the Dollar Tree. Spray paint is one of my favorite things ever! I love that stuff. :)

Be sure to head over to facebook (links above) for the hop! There will be lots of fun, giveaways, and challenges too. See you there!

Got out the Bind it All

It had been way too long since I used my pretty pink Bind it All, but I had this idea, inspired by the fun find of a friend (say that ten times fast! LOL) and had to crank that baby up.

A couple of trips to the thrift store and I came back with some adorable children's books that had seen better days. They each have significance to a particular grandkid, I picked them out specifically. Olivia's nickname is Mousie, Mila loves piggies, Feliciano has (at least used to have) a fascination with dinosaurs, and Emmy loves bunnies.....perfect! I took those poor little books and gave them new life as custom spiral notebooks. I think the kidlets will love them. I sure had fun putting them together. Aren't they so cute!?? :)

Melonheadz - hand colored image

This week's Melonheadz challenge is to hand color your digi image. I know a lot of you already do that, and I do a lot too, but this time you must! LOL No cheating and using colored digis for this project.

I used this adorable school boy from the School Subject Kidlettes set and made a little alteration. Can you see what I did??

...besides putting him on a wobble, that is. ;) Isn't he too cute? Feliciano, grandboy #2, cannot sit still for one second. I think this wobble boy is perfect for him!

Ok now maybe you can see better what I did to alter this already adorable image.....if you haven't guessed, I added lines and holes to the notebook paper! SO CUTE!!!
Thanks for coming by to check out the newest challenge. Hope you can join me and the team and share your own hand colored image for this challenge. :)

My Favorite Things, Sketch Challenge #241

The new challenge sketch is up on the Card Challenges blog. I decided it was the perfect sketch to use this adorable school theme set by Birdie Brown for My Favorite Things called Class Act. Super cute and fun images!

I love this sweet little school girl.

The dies are so much fun but I took it to another level by cutting the shapes from shrink film to create custom shaker filler. It's one of my favorite ways to use small die shapes! The shape you cut will shrink to approximately one-third its original size. (Be sure to color your images before you shrink them.) Here you can see the custom shapes I made.

The inside message. I used the circle cut-out from the shaker window to tie it all together.

But I didn't stop at just shaker filler. I thought the tiny apples were so cute I decided to make them into earrings. Eeek. So cute!!!

And then I had another idea.....backpack charms!!!!! Here you can see the difference in size from the original die cut from paper compared to the shrink charms. The girls will love these. :)

My Favorite Things Color Challenge #26

Great color palette to work with, as always. Love the pinks and greens together, and the gray is a perfect accent color. I used the gray here for my 'background' which is a stamp from My Favorite Things Own Your Story (older set no longer available). The flowers and leaf branches are from the Modern Blooms stamps and dies. Love!!

Flowers layered with foam tape for dimension. My favorite!

Melonheadz Friends Challenge - Include a sun

Welcome to the new Melonheadz Friends challenge, include a sun. That's a pretty easy one, right!? :) I added a sweet little face to my sun. The sun comes from the Aloha set, and the face is from the In the Garden face stamp assortment by Peachy Keen.

The turtle is from the Ocean Life set , water and sand are both from the Feelin Beachy set, and the underwater and splash stamps are by Paper Smooches. Sentiment by Jaded Blossom.

I put the turtle on foam tape for dimension, and added shadowing with copic markers.

Come and play with me and the rest of the Melonheadz Design Team for a chance to win super cute digi images!! Link up here.

Card Class, Day 6: Design Break - LOTS of pics!

I had a very busy weekend creating cards with the backgrounds I created this week. I didn't realize how many of them I had made. Between ruining a couple of them {boo! :( } and skipping a couple, I still ended up making SEVEN cards. Woot! I've provided brief descriptions, but if you'd like more info or have questions, please comment and I'll answer there. :)
