Melonheadz Friends, Spring Challenge

Happy Monday! Today brings the new challenge at Melonheadz Friends. This week's challenge is Spring. I used the Bugs Combo Pack for my card using foam tape to attach the butterfly and bees. The ladybug is also in this set.

The "spring" title is from the Easter 2011 set - I used just part of the full sentiment, cut it in a flag banner shape and added a mat.

Here you can see the dimension you get from the foam tape. I love that stuff and use it a LOT.

My Favorite Things, Sketch Challenge 221

It's Thursday, good people! Or as I like to call it Friday Eve. :) Friday is my favorite day, so it seems fitting. LOL

Today's card is the current sketch challenge at My Favorite Things card challenge blog. For my card I used the Blueprints 22 and Blueprints 1 Die-Namics die sets. Stamps are the Scribble Flowers and the sentiment is from BB Somebunny. Teeny baby buttons from my stash for the final embellishment.

I stamped the scribble flowers onto vellum then cut the rounded corner mat and adhered it to a piece of pattern paper, also cut with that die. I cut the sentiment using the Blueprints 1 set then cut the end at an angle just for interest.

I cut the heart three times and heat embossed one of them for the top, then layered them with foam tape before adding the sentiment tag.

Day 7, Stretch Your Dies - Alphabet Dies

Welcome to Day 7 of Online Card Classes, Stretch Your Dies. Today we are focusing on alphabet dies. I love alphabet dies and all the fun ways they can be used on pages, cards and projects. For this project, I made a shaker birthday card using the Fun Lowercase Alphabet dies by My Creative Time.

The balloons are just tiny circle dies which I stamped background designs onto and heat embossed.

For added fun, I used Jaded Blossom Birthday Candies stamps to create a special birthday treat!

Day 6, Stretch Your Dies - Border Dies

Hope your Saturday is going well. In today's class we are focusing on border dies. I used the 'waves' die by My Creative Time for my sea-themed card. The adorable whale is from the Briny Blue set by Paper Smooches. The sentiment is also by Paper Smooches, from the Surf and Turf stamp set. ... did you catch my play on words there?? Haha.

I cut and stamped the whale three times and layered them with foam tape. Pattern paper is by Carta Bella from the Ahoy There 6x6 paper pad. This one is a birthday card for my grampa. :)

Day 5, Stretch Your Dies - Combined stamp/die sets

Yay it's Friday! I love today's class, but I really DO NOT love my cards for today's class. Grumble. I think I just don't have the right kind of sets to achieve the look I wanted, but nevertheless, here are my attempts.

For the background on this card, I used masking along with the airbrush tool by Tim Holtz. The stamp and die set is Pretty Poppies by My Favorite Things. I like these stamps but in the end it seemed to be too much black, and/or not enough background color. I tried to "help" by adding gold glitter Spica pen to the flower centers and addition gold with sequins, but it still feels meh.

I don't feel much more love for this second version, to be honest. I used inking over masking in this card. The flower set is In Bloom by Paper Trey Ink,, sentiment by My Creative Time. Then I wasn't liking the empty flowers, so I added a little gold embossing around parts of them. Still wasn't feeling it, so I water colored them with a water brush. Again....meh.

This is a technique I will try to revisit later when I have other stamp/die sets that might work a little better. Here are both cards, side by side, for your meh-ing pleasure. LOL ;)

Day 4, Stretch Your Dies Card Class - Mini Dies

HAPPY Thursday everyone! :) I'm extra happy today because I got new crafty goodies to play with! Everybody loves happy mail, am I right!

Today I'm using these adorable mini dies by My Creative Time, and the awesome new "happy" word by My Favorite Things. I attached the card front with all the die cut-outs with foam tape - lots and lots of foam tape! - to create my one of a kind birthday card. The stamped "birthday" is from the new Jaded Blossom set, Party Animal.

I love the look of the raised panel, and for extra oomph the stitched circles are too cute. Add a few Doodlebug Sprinkles and done! :)

Day 3, Stretch Your Dies Card Class - Window

Fun technique in today's class....making windows! I decided to use a circle for my window, in keeping with the birthday balloon theme I have going here.  Also, instead of using inking or pattern papers, I hit up my washi stash to make the cover design. Love these colors together.

Open the window and the happy birthday message is revealed.

Open the card, and a whole bunch of balloons are revealed. :) LET'S PARTY!
Product List:
My Favorite Things, Somebunny balloon and sentiments stamps

Day 2, Stretch Your Dies Card Class - Flower Dies

Second card for today, focusing on flower dies. The technique here is cutting dies within a die. I really like the look, don't you!?

I used several flower shapes by My Creative Time for my design. Small seems to work better than large in this technique.

The word die is also by My Creative Time, as is the tag/label and 'birthday' stamp.

I added foam tape behind the flower shapes to give it dimension - my fave, as you probably know by now! :) For even more dimension and texture, I heat embossed the 'happy' word. Fun class!
Product List:
My Creative Time, Rectangle Frames dies
My Creative Time, Bunch of Fun Circles dies
My Creative Time, Chunky Jar Accessories dies
My Creative Time, Live, Love, Laugh stamp set
My Creative Time, Happy Thoughts stamps and dies
My Creative Time, Stitched Pretty Flowers and Leaves dies
Foam tape, clear embossing powder

Day 2, Stretch Your Dies

For today's card class, I've used the negative space for my design. I used stars and navy blue to create a more masculine-type of card.

Using foam tape, I've lifted the card front off the card base to make the negative space really pop. It's a simple technique, but works really well to create a more dimensional card. Hope you like!
Product List:
My Creative Time, Let's Celebrate and Polka Dot Surprise stamp sets
My Creative Time, Stitched Star dies and Stitched Decorative Banner dies
Gold sequins, Bazzill Admiral cardstock, foam tape, white & clear embossing powders

Day 1, Stretch Your Dies - Word dies

Happy Monday! Today is the first day of Online Card Classes, Stretch Your Dies. Today were focusing on word dies. I used the "family" word die by My Creative Time.

Actually, all the products I used today are by My Creative Time -- rectangle frames dies, Girls Night Out stamps, and Mini Chalkboard Tags stamps and dies set.
Papers are by American Crafts (oldies I've had in my stash).

See you tomorrow with more ideas on how to get more use from your dies.

Melonheadz Friends, Animals Challenge

Hello and welcome to the new Melonheadz Friends Challenge! This week's challenge is animals. Please join me and the rest of the Melonheadz Design Team for this fun challenge. :)

For my challenge project, I used the momma sheep from the Barnyard Babies  set {see images of the full set below}. She's so cute!

To create dimension, I cut the image twice, plus a third head. {sounds weird, doesn't it!? LOL}

I layered the pieces using foam tape. Super fun technique! Come and play with us. You have until the 30th till the next challenge. :)

MFT Color Challenge 16

It's another fun color combo from My Favorite Things. I used the Somebunny stamp set for my birthday card and "balloon seeds" label.

The scalloped edge die is from the Blueprints 22 Die Namics set, and the tiny flag for my sentiment from Fishtail Tags STAX.

I used copic markers to color the clouds and balloons, and cork paper for the paper bag color.
