My Favorite Things, Sketch 230

Happy Saturday! Today's card is for the My Favorite Things, Card Challenges, Sketch 230. I used the adorable stamp set by Birdie Brown, The Whole Herd. Isn't this cow so cute!?

I put the balloon, also by My Favorite Things, on a wobble - kids love wobbles! - and left the string unanchored so it moves along with the balloon when you wobble it. The background mats are both by My Favorite Things, as is the fishtail flag and sentiment.

Paper Smooches, SPARKS Sketch Challenge

Today's card is for the Paper Smooches SPARKS Sketch Challenge. I used the super cute Perpetual Bliss stamp set by Paper Smooches for the jukebox and music notes, and for the sentiment and tiny hearts, Uplifters.

I cut the jukebox and heat embossed after coloring with copic markers, then added it to the card with foam tape. The sentiment is also on foam tape to pop it off the cool silver cardstock. Fun sketch! Thanks for looking. :)

Day 3, Masking Class

Today we're working with liquid masks. This is a first for me. I used rubber cement since I already had that in my stash. I kinda like it, though the images I have to work with were not the best for this technique. I'll have to play around a bit, but not bad for a first.

I love the burlappy background stamp. The rest of the stamps, as well as the stencil I used, are all Tim Holtz. The ink colors are Evergreen Bough and Peeled Paint, both distress inks also by Tim Holtz.

Day 2, Mask-erade Online Card Class

For today's card, I created a mask using a large die then stamped inside with small flower dies. I like the look of this, though the outside shape is not as prominent as I would have liked. In hindsight, rather than a scallop edge, I think a solid circle might have been better. Nevertheless, here is my finished card. The butterfly is by Memory Box, and the sentiment is from My Favorite Things, True Friends.

There is no pattern paper on this card; everything is stamped. The yellow flowers are all minis from a set by Stampendous, and the diagonal stripes are a border stamp by My Creative Time. Few silver sequins for a little extra oomph, and done! Hope you like. :)

Online Card Classes, Mask-erade Day 1

It's day one of card class and I'm so excited!!! I love these classes and learn so many techniques from the talented teachers. If you haven't yet taken any of the classes, I encourage you to try it! I think you'll be hooked once you do. You can find the whole list of available classes on the website. They are go at your own pace, so you can take them whenever you have the time, even if you miss the 'live' presentations. Here's my project for day 1:

For this card I used masking to create depth and layering. These sweet little farm animals that I chose for my card are by My Favorite Things from The Whole Herd stamp set. The sentiment is also included with this adorable stamps.

I think this just might be my favorite one-layer card I have ever created! As much as I love dimension and foam tape, I totally love how these guys came out! Thanks for looking. :)

My Favorite Things, Sketch 229

Here is my version of this week's sketch at My Favorite Things Card Challenge blog. It is also my first attempt at stamping and foiling, which I'm pleased with for the most part. I'll have to play around a little more with foiling sentiments though, as you can see. Overall, I like how my first project turned out. :)

 The sketch:

I used the diagonal stitched rectangle frames, blueprints 22, and you gnome me stamp set by My Favorite Things (links below).

Here's a closer view of the disappointing result of foiling the sentiment. The triangle background is from the geo borders stamps by My Creative Time. I will have to do some practicing to find the right type of sentiment to use next time.

If you're interested in checking out stamping and foiling techniques, check out this video by Jennifer McGuire. Thanks for coming by today! :) Hope you are enjoying a pleasant long weekend.

It's a wedding challenge

This week's prompt at CAS*ology is WEDDING. Here's my attempt at a wedding themed card. I apologize for the crappy photography; it's not easy getting a good shot of super shiny silver paper! For what it's worth.....

I used three stamp sets from My Creative Time for my card; silver embossing powder, silver cardstock, and My Mind's Eye, Meadowlark 6x6 paper pad.

The heart stamps are from the Puffy Hearts Just for you stamp set. Pretty border from Build a Post Card, and the sentiment from Fun Gift Pocket Sentiments.

Thanks for coming by the studio! :)

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge

It's Anything Goes time with Paper Smooches, SPARKS blog challenge. I used the Bee Mine stamps and dies, and made a beehive shaker. In addition, I put the chubby bee on an action wobble! Lots of fun going on in this one card. Also, the sentiment is from another Paper Smooches set, Cyber Cafe.

Here's a little closer view of the beehive shaker and bee. I colored the bee with copic markers and, while it doesn't show in the photo, I colored the wings with Wink of Stella glitter pen. The tree branch is a stamp by My Creative Time.

He wobbles! :)

A 'sort of' graduation card

Grandboy, Feliciano, is moving on to 5th grade next year. :) His school is K-4th grade so they won't be having a "real" graduation, but will celebrate with a "moving on" party for his class. I thought this adorable owl by Kadoodle Bug Designs was the perfect little guy for his card. Isn't he the cutest!? Not only can you pick up this file for free, yeah, I said, FREE! but right now EVERYTHING on the website is $1.00 during the GRADUATION SALE! Go pick up some of the cutest svgs around....after you leave a comment here of course! ;) Have fun shopping!

I used stickles to add sparkle to the tassle, glossy accents for the eyes, and copic markers to enhance the shading a bit. And what 4th going into 5th grader wouldn't like gold stars! :) Star dies and sentiment by My Creative Time.

Super love adding dimension using, what else, foam tape! Thanks for coming by the studio.

MFT Color Challenge 21

Hello Monday crafters. I have a new color combo for you today....first, though, I don't know how to get rid of the shadow behind the card that is making the wall look purple!! Weird. But anyway, here is my card and all the lovely details. (See image at the end of this post for color chart.)

I decided to use kraft for my card base. This seemed to make the pretty pink tones pop, I think. And you know how much I love pink, if you know me AT ALL! LOL The banners are all from the My Favorite Things Fishtail Flags STAX die set. The cross-stitched edge circle is also by My Favorite Things, as are the leaf branch and sentiment.

The bird, which I cut from gold foil cardstock, is from the Teresa Collins Cricut Cartridge, December 25th. It comes with a holly branch, but I snipped that part off to use with this leaf branch instead.

Product List:
My Favorite Things, Cross Stitched Edge Circle dies
My Favorite Things, Fishtail Flags STAX dies
My Favorite Things, Pretty Poppies stamp set
My Favorite Things, Wild Greenery leaf dies
My Favorite Things, Pink Lemonade cardstock
Cricut Cartridge, December 25th - finch
Gold cardstock, Bazzill Swiss dot cardstock, foam tape
