So long, Scrapbuggy :`(

Sadly, today is the day Scrapbuggy will close its doors. It makes me sad, but on the other hand, I can't be sad for the wonderful friendships I've made through my connection with the store and with Gia. Thank you so much, Gia. I ♥ you, dear friend!!!! In June, 2008, Cheryle, whom I knew from the Remember When message board, contacted me letting me know of a design team call for a new online store I had not yet heard of. I never thought I would ever be on a design team and was so nervous when speaking with Gia on the phone the first time!!! I would become not just her first DT member, but also DT Coordinator, for four wonderful years!  Little did I know back then that this path would bring into my life a really special friend.

This assignment also allowed me to attend my first big scrap-related event in a big way. Gia and I went to the last Quickutz Retailer's Convention held in Park City, Utah in October, 2009. We had a BLAST and when the next year came around and there was no mention of a retreat being planned, we were so disappointed. It was shortly thereafter we learned that Lifestyle Crafts would soon be the new owners of Quickutz and soon, the ball began to rapidly roll downhill. :/ It will never take away the memories of the great time we had and someday we hope to meet up again for another weekend of scrapping, giggling, staying up late like teenage girls, and finding funny in nearly everything! {Nook and Cranny!!! Hahaha!!!!}

The layout below is the first project I made for the Scrapbuggy Design Team in July, 2008. I felt it was so inadequate and lame that Gia would be sorry she asked me to be on her team. I really was THAT nervous!!!

I will miss the Scrapbuggy store, but Gia will continue to be a big part of my life...she can't get rid of me even if she wanted to. LOL!

I have a guest poster!

I'm so excited that grandgirl, Grace, is here for a bit for summer vaca! She's been my scrapping buddy since she was 3 years old (she's 11 now) and we have so much fun making crafty goodness when she's here. This is her card using the new Fly Away With Me release by My Creative Time.

She put her balloon on a wobble, which is why it's a little blurry here.

Her sentiment pretty much tells you about her awesome personality! This girl is going places. ;)

And my card for today....  I used paper tape to make the background and marker to pen the border.
As neat as the balloon is, I simply love love love the clouds. They are my favorite from this release.

The sentiments are also from this new release.

Added glossy accents to the balloon cuz I love the way it looks. I also used foam tape for dimension as you can see better in this view.

Thanks for coming by. If you missed the blog hop yesterday, scroll down for that and hop along with the MCT design team for your chance to win delicious prizes!!!!

Ok, you may have already seen a few teeny sneaks from Emma's blog earlier this week, but now you get to see the whole project. Yay! For my card I used these sentiments from the Fly Away With Me stamp set, and the hot air balloon die. I love the new dies with this release, they are so fun!

I used Glossy Accents on the basket and balloon trim, and hemp twine for the ropes.

And because this release is so much fun to work with, my hands kept making stuff and I came up with this second card. :) I am so in love with the stitched edge clouds!!!!{Note: for the first card, I did not have the dies yet, thus my QK cloud instead of the stitched MCT version.} This time I used one of the kite stamps minus the tail, and added my own twine tail.

The banner is also a die from this release. Loving this adorable Fly Away set.

 Clouds. Just one word for these....LOVE! :)

It's time for My Creative Time 3D Wednesday!

This week Emma has added a twist to 3D Wednesday. Not only are we doing a 3D project, but also we are  using something in our home that would typically be thrown away. Yes, we are RECYCLING! For my project, I decided to make something from this ribbon spool. Goodness I have tossed enough of these things in the trash, it's time I used one for good, right!? :) You'll never guess what I came up with! -- or maybe you will. ;)

Here is the beginning of the project....can you guess yet?
Ok enough guessing games. I made a sweet little keepsake box for grandgirl, Courtney, who turned 7 on the 7th. She LOVES fairies and sparkles and jewelry and all things girlie. I think I scored big with this little project! :)

Product List:
My Creative Time, Teeny Tag Greetings
My Creative Time, Stitched circle die {small flower}
Empty ribbon spool
Graphic45 Once Upon a Springtime paper collection
My handmade flowers
Memory Box leaf dies
Making Memories metal initial charm
Ribbon, stickles, pearl beads, string pearl beads, button, ink

Thanks for looking. Be sure to check out all the fab projects from all the other MCT designers as well. You won't want to miss the awesomeness everyone is sharing with our recycle assignment today!!!!

It's Scrappy Monday with MCT

Welcome to Scrappy Monday! Today's challenge is to use the sketch below for your layout AND incorporate texture in the form of twine, jute, burlap, etc. Are you game!? You have until June 24 to upload your page to the My Creative Time blog. Come and play with us!

Here's my take on the sketch.

For my layout subject, I decided on these pics of my grandson, Jeffery, who graduated high school on Friday. When he first started playing sports he always chose number 7 on all of his teams. Because he was 7 years old, of course! :)
Here he is hustling down the soccer field!

Title using My Creative Time Soccer stamp set. I cut soccer ball "O" and popped it with foam tape and added twine and a blue star to match the team colors.

This soccer ball is larger than the "O" in the 'soccer' word and the perfect embellishment. Again I popped it with foam tape for dimension. These grassy stars I cut from the parts of photos that I cropped off from the smaller ones.

Product List:
My Creative Time, Soccer stamp set
Bazzill textured cardstock
Bazzill swiss dot cardstock
October Afternoon, 5&Dime 8x8 paper pad
K&Co. Americana 12x12 paper pad
Quicktuz English Rose alphabet {number '7'}
Quickutz nesting star dies
Quickutz billboard sign die set
Lifestyle Crafts nesting circles dies
Lifestyle Crafts banner die
Computer generated text, ink, twine, button

Thanks for coming by for Scrappy Monday. I hope you'll join the MCT team and share your take on this week's sketch challenge. Have a crafty week!

** Birthday Giveaway Winners **

Happy Friday-Eve, everyone. Or as normal people call it, Thursday. ;) We have TWO winners to announce in the birthday giveaway drawings! Woot! I'm so happy you came by to play with me on my birthday. :) I was so bummed the playlist no longer works on blogs. The party would have been better with music, but it was fun nonetheless. {Still searching for a replacement music list for the blog.} It would also have been more fun with balloons and cake, but I didn't have that either....though I do have this guy that someone sent me a long time ago. Enjoy!

All righty then, let's get to the winners! The first prize is the Quickutz Cotton Candy alphabet die set. The blog winner chosen by random.org is {drumroll, please} Momof4inArlington! {Applause and adulations!} Please email me with your mailing info so I can send your prize out to you. :)

We also held a drawing on the facebook fan page! The prize for this drawing is a Heidi Grace chipboard bundle from the Little Bird's Tale collection. This prize goes to {drumroll...} Heather Dorman Billhorn. I'll need your mailing info as well so please email me and I'll get your goodies to you.

Thanks to everyone who played and congrats to the winners!!!
