Hey, chick!

Greetings! Today's card is for the Peachy Keen New Release Challenge 1, stamp a background. I used the adorable chicken wire background by My Creative Time. I dabbed it with a baby wipe to make it appear more distressed than it is {it's a full coverage stamp if you are wondering}. The fence is a Quickutz picket fence border die which I modified by using just the lower part of the fence.

My sentiment and tag are both Peachy Keen. The sentiment from the Fruit Sentiments Two set, and the label from the November release.

And the chicken. Love this guy. Die by Cottage Cutz; I simply omitted the legs and put him on a nest. For the nest, I used the Memory Box wreath die, cut and wrapped around on itself, and some raffia ribbon. Card design inspired by jaydekay of Splitcoast Stampers.

You have until tomorrow to join the challenges. Who knows, you could win a prize - which actually is mine, though, so don't win it really {LOL!}. Thanks for coming by. I hope you're having a great weekend and maybe you'll post your project in the Peachy Connection for your chance to win! :)

It's 3D Wednesday, people!

Welcome to my favorite project day - I love making 3D stuff! Today's cutie-patootie project is an Easter basket favor inspired by an idea on pinterest by Suzonne Stirling from the Urban Comfort blog. I've given a quick pictorial below, but for full instructions, please visit Urban Comfort blog. These adorable little Easter favors are made from COFFEE FILTERS! So easy, not so much quick, (so give yourself a couple of days if you are making lots of them) but fun and simple to make. Took me a while, and a big ol' mess in the kitchen, but I love the end result and would not be put off from making them again.

In a shallow dish, add about a cup or so of water and some food coloring. I used Wilton paste colors and they worked great. Place a few filters at a time in the colors. For the basket ones in green, put them curly side down and let the color seep up into them.

I used the small size coffee filters (4-6 cup size) in both basket and cone styles. This is a good size for a small favor. Dry them thoroughly on paper towels. You can speed up the process with a heat gun but be careful not to get to close to the paper. If you're doing a lot of them, I'd recommend starting when you have lots of time for them to dry. Like a whole day at least.

Roll the orange filters into a cone shape and secure with glue. If you use a large enough piece of candy (chocolate egg for example), you won't need to glue the bottom shut, but I did because....well, that's how I am.....it looked unfinished and I couldn't deal with that. LOL

Then take the green carrot top piece and poke the center down between your thumb and finger to make it pointy at the bottom like this.

I finished mine off a little differently I think than Suzonne did hers. I ran glue around the inside top of the 'carrot' after I put the candy inside, then stuck the pointy part of the top inside and squeezed the carrot around the green part gluing them together. Then I tied twine around the top as you see here.

Add them to a cute little Easter bucket or basket.... or not!... and include a tag. I made the 'grass' by cutting 2 inch strips of 12 inch cardstock, running through the crimper, then cutting into thin strips and squishing in my hand. Perfection. For the tag, I used Color Me Happy sentiments, along with the Just Tags stitched die and stitched egg die. Super cute! I think the grands will enjoy these carrots. :)

Scrappy Monday

It's scrappy Monday time again with My Creative Time. The day we share layouts, smash books and project life ideas. We hope you'll be inspired to scrap a memory or two with us this week! :) Today's page features grandgirls, Grace and Olivia at one of the annual family campouts. This one at Belfair State Park.

I used a portion of the MCT large fishtail tag die for my journaling.

The cloud dies and cute little star button dies are perfect embellishments.

My title is a fishtail tag die with a combination of MCT Just Simply Live stamps and alphabet letters.

For added detail, I made this flag embellishment along the edge of the photo. The flags are from four different MCT dies, then I added a star button to tie the page together. Kinda neat, huh.
