Lightening strikes, yikes!

We had quite the show the other night....or I should say I did; hubs was long past sawing logs at this time of night. Me, I'm a night owl, always have been. It was nearly 1 a.m. but I went outside to see if I could catch some of it on camera. Lightening is awfully tricky. Every time I waited right it would strike left, and vice versa. I did get a couple of shots, but nothing like the true, light-up-the-sky-like-daytime strikes. Amazing!

Here's my feeble attempt. Pitch black outside, had no idea what was in my view, but I got this little one between the power lines. Then the rain came down in HUGE drops, more like plops, and by the bucket. It was pretty cool.

  1. I know exactly what you mean! On the fourth, I was at the store, when an incredible storm blew in; it sounded as though there was an army on the roof! The store was closed, with other customers standing between the double doors. I braved the "waterfall", and ran out to the truck. The entire sky lit up with every bolt of lightning, and you could actually hear it crackling. The wind was so fierce, it was blowing the truck from side to side. I took the hint, and sat there trying to film it with my phone. I couldn't get the settings or the timing right. Eventually, I gave up and shot a video instead!

  2. Shar ~ I thought I was CRAZY to be out watching the lightening but you holding a metal object snapping pictures ~ might just have beat me! If it wasn't so dangerous ~ it is rather beautiful to watch!
