Our summer adventures

Cyndi and Pat came over late Friday night to pick up Grace. They got back home about 1 a.m. It's been so hot they wanted to drive in the cool of the evening and I sure can't say I blame them for that. If you've been watching my weather pixie, you know it's been in the 100s here this past week or so. Gracie's departure was a little sooner than we all had planned, but things changed and we had to rearrange some things. We had such a fun-filled summer there is nothing to complain about though. :)

Scrappy camp was a huge success and, while we didn't get as much scrapping done as we thought we would, we did get a few projects done as well as many non-scrappy projects and had a blast.

We made iron on transfers and sent home a tee shirt and matching tote for Gracie to carry home all her scrappy goodies. :)

We had a fun bbq for the Fourth of July and made red/white/and blue foods and cute place cards. Grace had lots of poppers and snap-its and we were treated to a fun fireworks display by the neighbors across the street. We painted the mudroom and the rest of the kitchen, and repainted her little table and chairs. The table used to be navy and the chairs were bright red.
and built a house of cards

and painted our faces

Grace cooled off in the sprinkler almost every day.

We went to the park.

and she still had time to read 28 books in between all our activities!!!!!!!!!

We had girls' spa night while grampa was gone one evening.

Grace learned to sew. Her first project was a pillow for grampa. It turned out great and he loves it! She also made a blanket for her doll and can't wait to sew more projects with her mom. She did really well and I'm so glad she enjoys it!

We made baguettes (which will now and forever be known in my kitchen as "bernadettes" - LOL ;)

Grace practiced her karate

and made Christmas gifts for her mom, dad and brother. She also made place cards for a tea party she is planning for after school starts.

It was a busy summer and we can't wait for next year already!! We had such a fun time I'm already counting the days still she comes back for a weekend in the fall when the guys go hunting. :)

  3. WOW! You two girls were BUSY!! Gracie is growing up so fast into such a pretty little girl. Watching her grow has been so much fun. Believe me, I understand how precious she is to you and can see how much she loves you and Randy, It must be a sad day for you when she leaves. Isn't it crazy that school starts so soon? Ours start back on this coming Wednesday. Of course, they missed so many days last winter that they are starting early this year.

Won't be long until Gracie is back for Scrappin' Camp again--time flies!

  4. Looks like the two of you had a great time!!! Gracie is such a talented little girl. I hope she will be a happy scrapper/crafter for a long time so the two of you can have your scrappy camps for years to come.

It reminds me so of my mother and grandmother, the two of them thought me how to knit, crochet, cross-stitch and sew when I was little. I am still feeling so blessed they did, every girl should learn these basic things, but due to budget cuts, the crafts teacher is the first to go at schools over here....
