Halloween Everyday, Spooky Specimen Slides

Goodness, how fun are these specimen slides we made for the junk journal? I keep all my packaging from cutting pads for the Big Shot and this is one awesome way to use them. These are alcohol ink splattered for a super cool, grungy, and buggy look for these bugs. Too much fun. Thank you so much to Toni for sharing her amazing and wonderfully creepy ideas for this journal!!! Check out her you tube series, Halloween Everyday.

I used copic inks for this as they are alcohol inks and I don't have any other alcohol ink. They work great and the look of them on acetate is so cool looking.
For these, I used E35, chamois; YG95, pale olive, and I think a little YG93, grayish yellow as well. The bugs are all Tim Holtz designs.

Halloween Everyday Junk Journal

I made this for the Halloween Junk Journal but it wasn't one of the projects actually scheduled in a video, so I'm calling it extra credit. LOL I made this family portrait as a 'flap' for an inside page in the book. I love how it turned out with the inked acetate sheet from Tim Holtz. The cracks and holes are so cool. Also, the frame is a paper by Heidi Swapp which was a piece of scrap from something else. I loved the antique looking design on it and thought it was perfect for the frame. I also used stamps from Heidi's July Stamp Society set for the fun swirls and flourishes around the photo matte. It gives it a more authentically antique look, don't you think.

The is the back side of the photo and the 'hinge' that will hold it onto the page. The "witch's rule" is from another piece of Heidi Swapp Halloween paper with more stamps from Heidi Swapp.

Halloween Everyday, Day 15

Today we made this creepy medical file folder. So cool! I think poor Edith looks a little unstable, what do you think. Her chart doesn't tell us much, but a picture is worth 1000 words, right?! LOL What a fun one this was!!! Be sure to catch the Halloween Everyday series on Toni's youtube channel, here. Can you believe we are halfway through the month already? Halloween is going to gone before we know it.

Tim Holtz ephemera and stamps, Heidi Swapp stamps, Crafty.by.Toni stamps and washi tape, and handmade ephemera from earlier days of the Halloween Everyday series. Distress oxide inks, eyelets, crop-a-dile, faux stitching, sanding and inking.

Halloween Everyday, Day 14

On Monday, Day 14, we made this awesome frame using Tim Holtz transparencies. I loved grunging it up and making it look old and creepy. We used washi tape for the outer frame as well as some of the spooky clusters we made. Using what I have made is always a challenge for me. Isn't that weird?? But this project has changed that and I'm loving using the pieces we have created when creating other things. This junk journal is going to be so freaking awesome when we finish it! I'm having the best time. You can play as well if you're interested. Check out Crafty by Toni on you tube for the Halloween Everyday series.

Halloween junk journal continued

Apparently I'm getting faster at this, or the videos are shorter (they're not though LOL) but I'm sure enjoying creating these fun elements for the Halloween Everyday junk journal project. I made some more cluster tabs after Day 13's video, and also put some finishing touches on more super fun slides I made last week. If you'd like to hop on and get create a fun memory book/junk journal/scrapbook for yourself, you can catch Toni's Halloween Everyday series on her youtube channel here.

These were the most fun for me, I think. I might have to make a bunch more. I loved doing these faux-slides.
Here are a couple more of the criminal slides that we did on Day 3.
And more of the long tab clusters from the paper we dyed and the ephemera clusters we've been making.

I can't believe we are halfway through the month already. Halloween will be over before I'm ready! It's my most favorite time of the year to create!!! Thanks for being here. :)
