The project I'm sharing today is a mini explosion box. The box measures 2 inches and is perfect for gifts of jewelry, a small toy or candy treat, and they fit beautifully in small hiding places. They are also great for stocking stuffers.  When I was a kid, my dad would hide small presents in the branches of the Christmas tree. It was so much fun to find them, I carried this tradition down to my own kids. {See link in product list below for instructions how to make these adorable little boxes.}

and they are easy to open too. Just slide off the ribbon, take off the top and the box pops open on its own. Fun!

Today's project is this sweet candy cane holder. It can be given as a little gift to your mailman, hairdresser, mani/pedi girl, paper boy, etc., or hang on the tree or on a present. Use mini candy canes and let the kids make them for their classmates. The base is the My Creative Time lollipop holder die and his head is the scalloped circle die. So cute! 

Here he is close up. I used a sparkly red bling to make him into Rudolph and leaf sprigs for his antlers. I cut his legs by hand and used a Peachy stamp for his face.

This is the back. I used the Build a Banner kit for the tag, and the 'to' and 'from' are from the new Classmate Valentines release.

MCT 12 Days of Christmas ~ Day 1

For my first project, I'm sharing this adorable little birdhouse ornament. So quick and easy to make, and you can embellish as much as you like, or leave plain and simple. I've simply added a tag with the year and a tiny little wreath. Isn't it sweet!? 

To make the birdhouse, download the template from Rhonda's blog.  I printed it on cardstock and covered it with clear adhesive plastic before cutting it out so I can trace it and not have to print it every time. But you can also print it directly onto (the back of) the paper you want to use for your birdhouse. 

I used the label dies from My Creative Time for the roof and shingles. 

Use a punch or die to cut the hole in the front and add the perch. I used a fastener by Tim Holtz, but you can use whatever you like. Even a rolled up piece of cardstock or twig. I cut the labels in half so they fit better and the roof wouldn't be so heavy when it was finished. Punch a hole in the rooftop and the roof base for the hanger. 

Glue the base to the bottom of the house, adhere the shingles to the roof base and add the ribbon or whatever you choose for hanging. 

Punch a hole in the date or gift tag, if you choose to add one, and slide the hanger through. 

Adhere the roof and you're done! I also made this tiny wreath to add a little more Christmassy feel. To make the wreath I just cut a ring the size of the "door" to the house, then glued on tiny die cut leaves all around and added red stickles for berries.
