My Creative Time Design Team Day

Finally, I'm back online! Whew. Didn't think I would make it....yes, I'm officially admitting to being addicted to the internet. Sigh. Moved the modem to another room last night and in the process was unable to reconnect to the internet. Barely slept waiting for morning so I could call tech support and fix it all up again. {Voluntarily calling tech support should tell you how desperate I had become!!!!} After nearly three hours on the phone {I HATE the telephone!} I am finally back online and happy to be able to share my project. Yay!!!! 

For my project this week, I was assigned the Many Greetings set from the new release. I love this awesomely versatile set. It has a little bit of everything!

And now my card. I love this sentiment. It's perfect for a thank you, a gift enclosure, or a just because. I embossed the background paper and lightly brushed with sandpaper so the tiny dots would show up even more prominently. 

I used one of my handmade flowers, yet another new version and an easy one too {will share a tutorial soon.} added to a heart popped off a dark background for dimension. The leaves are spellbinders.

Sheer ribbon, button, crochet thread and a pearl center for fun!

and the adorable sentiment. :) I stamped this one in rich cocoa ink on a tiny label die. I like the subtle-ness of the brown versus a stark black with the light colored background pattern paper.

Scrapping and something extra yummy!

Here is one of the projects that Grace and I have been working on. Can you stand it!? These are so good! -- and that's saying something coming from me as I do not care for peanut butter or chocolate. Together though... well, what do YOU think!?? YUM! Grace did the chocolate and cookie garnish on top. :)

Ok and now for my scrappy project: Grace and the ocean, her reflection in the wet sand.

I used lots of different dies on this page, though it doesn't really look like I used that many. The tiny wave and sailboat are QK cookie cutter minis, the scallop is from the Quickutz Relax Gift Set, the starfish and sand dollar are QK 2x2 dies.

Conch shell is also a 2x2 QK die.

But my favorite is this message in a bottle. I used die packaging for the "glass" bottle, cork paper for the cork,  and sandpaper for the sand. The die is by Cottage Cutz.

Nesting circle flowers

For today's project I decided to do a pictorial....well, actually I wanted to do a video tutorial but I'm still muddling with the video program and haven't got that part figured out - my apologies!!! I hope I've taken enough pics of each step to give you a good guide on how to make these yourself. They are not hard at all and they come out so pretty in the end result. Let's get started!

Begin with two lacy circles, one slightly smaller than the other. I used dies from the new Lifestyle Crafts Possibilities release. {These are approx 2 1/4" and 1 1/2" sizes.} 

Run them through your die cutter. 

You'll be using the outside "ring" for the flower. Save the center for something else.

Snip the circle.

Begin rolling the ring with the wrong side facing you. The right side of your flower will be to the inside of the rolled piece. I use a quilling tool for this step, but you don't have to have one in order to make the flower. It just makes the rolling a lot easier and much tighter. You can also roll it around a paint brush handle, small pen, pencil or marker, or if you're really good, just roll it in your fingers.

Once you finish rolling, slide it off the end of your quilling tool....

.....and let it "relax" and open up some.

You can fluff it if you like or leave it tightly rolled. When you have it the way you want it, add a drop of glue {I use Glossy Accents but you can also use hot glue or other liquid glue.} to hold the end in place. Once the glue dries, turn the flower upside down and give it a squish against the table/worktop to fold out the petals.

Use your flowers to embellish a layout or card. Add some leaves or foliage, a button or bling to the center, or leave as is. Aren't they pretty! :) You can also use solid color cardstock, spray with glimmer mist, or ink the outer edge before rolling for a little different look.
