Hear ye, hear ye .... announcement!!

It is my pleasure to share the exciting news that I am now a member of the Queen Kat Designs Royal Court (Design Team) !! I'm excited for this new opportunity to add stamping and coloring to my crafty repertoire, and I'm looking forward to working with the fabulous Queen Kat, Vicki, her Royal Stamping Maids, and her fun designs.

Every Wednesday I'll be posting sample projects, info on sales and specials, events and activities for QKD right here on my blog, so be sure to check weekly for links and fun stuff from Queen Kat Designs online store.

Amelia Earhart

Grace loves learning about women of history. She even chose Laura Ingalls and Amelia Earhart for two of her Halloween costumes. She was so excited when the Amelia Earhart exhibit came to Seattle! She is completely fascinated by the life and death of Amelia Earhart that she has decided when she grows up that she and her bff will search for Amelia and her plane (if they haven't yet been found by then.) :)

For this layout I used one of the banners from the QuicKutz heritage set and the cookie cutter flowers (which I call weeds). In addition, I've used the Spellbinders nesting ovals and scallops and the Sizzix airplane.

I also made a couple of cards using some older 2x2 shapes, a crown and a fleur de lis. Either of these would be good thank you cards or invitations, or just to say hello.

In case it has somehow escaped you, we are into November already!!! *GASP* I can't believe how fast the year has flown by. If you haven't voted yet, please get out there today and make your voice heard--we have no right to complain if we don't exercise our right to vote!

Trick or Treat!

We had lots of scarey little beasts and creatures, and some adorable little princesses, at our door last night. First time in years we've had kids trick or treating and it was a lot of fun to see them and hear their squeaky little voices shouting for candy.

As you can see by the post below, I made the Hoffmeister answer the door with his mask and bloody machete. Most kids were so cute about it...the first one, spiderman, was so not sure about it he stood there staring, basically frozen while hubs dropped candy in his bag. LOL But the best was one little guy about 4 who told him, "I wike your mask!" and another who commented, "Oooo! Scawwwey!" LOL

I hope you're staying warm where you are. With fall officially here, the temps have dropped considerably here in the high desert of Eastern Washington and I'm even wearing slippers in the house! GASP! It may not sound like a big deal, but I'm a year-round barefoot kinda gal and my feet have been freezing the past few days on these hardwood floors! But I digress... the reason for my fall lead-in is this card :)

I've used the Cottage Cutz pumpkin trio, minus their face stamps, for this glittery fall card. For the pretty corner flourishes, I used the vine stamp that comes with the trio die.

I added vines and leaves from the Cottage Cutz pumpkin patch die and the grass from the Cottage Cutz spooky fence. Cute, huh!


And another treat container! If I had a whole house for a storage unit, I could fill it with containers! I love containers!! This one, as you can see, is Queen and Co. I don't remember what came inside, I've had it for a few years.

I took it apart to make a template...

...and traced it onto my double-sided paper

On the inside, I made my score lines and marked where my tabs and slots would be.

Fold, adhere and punch holes in the sides for my ribbon handle, and now I'm ready to embellish.

Cottage Cutz adorable little witch on her broom makes a super cute little treat sweetie, doesn't she!

Add stickles - cuz everyone loves bling, even witches, don't you know....

...and a tag for giving. Here I used one of the pumpkins from the Cottage Cutz pumpkin trio and slipped the ribbon handle through one of the slots.

You still have a few days yet till Halloween if you still want to make treat bags or favors for a party. You can use most any container as a template to make your own, or just grab a lunch bag and start embellishing! Pretty much anything will work....as long as it's got candy in it, that's the important thing, right!? :) Happy Halloween!
