New House Card

Sally and Dom finally bought their first house!!! I'm so proud and happy for them. :) They're still moving in and we haven't seen it in person, but I'm sure we will soon since Randy has already been informed his contractor skills will be required at some point in the near future. LOL

Love this card design, originally a mother's day card, scraplifted from PaperCrafts Magazine and modified to fit the theme. Papers by Crate Paper, embellishments are Quickutz dies.

More itsy bitsy birdhouses

Using up scraps and having a ball with these adorable little birdhouses (template by Nichole Heady)!! Making them is fun, but decorating them after is a blast! Go crazy and make enough to decorate a whole tree. Wouldn't these be cute in themes??? Or for gift boxes or party favors!! Cute!





For the front opening and the base, I used these dies, but you can use a hole punch if you don't have a cookie cutter circle, and just cut the base 1.75x1.75 inches if you don't have a small square.



They take only minutes to make but once you make a couple you'll want to make more and more!

Ribbon flower pictorial

P.S. Do not look at my nasty nails!!!! Yikes. I didn't realize just how bad they are till seeing them in the pics. Gross.

Sue asked for a tutorial on the ribbon flower I made for a mother's day card, so here you go, dedicated to Sue. :) When you see how easy they are, you'll be making them all over the place! LOL

Supplies you will need:

• 11-12 inches of ribbon (the wider the ribbon the longer the piece as the flower will be bigger)
• scissors
• needle
• thread to match the ribbon color you're using
• ribbon adhesive; glue dots work great I just forgot to put them in the photo as I used liquid glue on the first one I made.
• flower center - button, bead, pebbles or brad, etc.

optional: circle or flower die for the backing. This just makes it easier to attach the center to the flower and the flower to the project.


Start by doubling the thread and knotting the end. Then do a simple running stitch along one side of the ribbon all the way to the end.




Now pull the thread and gather the ribbon as you go.



When you get to the end, pull snuggly as your ribbon forms a circle. Pull tightly and connect the two ends with a stitch or two. Knot off and snip the thread.



Adhere the ribbon flower to the backing piece you cut, or onto your card or project. Add the center of your choice.



Done! See how simple!? :) Remember, the smaller the ribbon the smaller the flower, the larger the ribbon the larger the flower. Make lots and put them together for a beautiful bouquet on a card or layout. Have fun making ribbon flowers!

I used My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary paper line--this one is double sided Best of Friends from the Mary, Mary collection. For the shingles I used the QK dog tag die and the butterfly is from the QK exclusive Easter Bunny set. "Perch" is a hitch fastener by Tim Holtz, Ideaology.
