Vintage travel tags

In Day 8 of the tag challenge, I made a few tags in vintage style for my project and fell in love with them. At the moment, I'm still waiting for supplies that I need to finish the first and last lessons of the 10 Day Tag Challenge, so I decided to make a few more of the vintage travel tags while I (impatiently) wait.

First, I did a search for vintage airline tags and saved several pages of designs. Next, I went through the images and chose a few that I felt I could most closely replicate with the stamps I have in my stash. I die cut some tags that were closest to the images, then I got to work finding the stamp sets, choosing ink colors and getting the supplies together.

Once I completed my tags, I 'roughed them up a bit' to give them a well-worn look. I really like how they turned out! How do you think I did?! I hope I have inspired you to try something similar!

these with the black background are the images I copied.

Heidi Swapp 10 Day Tag Challenge, Day 9

Hello and welcome to day 9 of Heidi's 10 day challenge class. If you haven't signed up and are regretting it, you can still purchase the class on her website and play along at your leisure! Once you buy the class, it's yours for as many times as you want to play. :) For example, I have yet to complete day 1 of the challenge as I am waiting for an order with items I want to use for that lesson. Hopefully, they'll be here very soon. I'm getting anxious!

So on now to Day 9, tag challenge. Our challenge today was to create a tag using scraps and leftovers. With 8 days behind us, we have lots of those. I had fun deciding which pieces to use and then what to make from those pieces and finally designing my tag using them. I found myself unable to stop, as you can see by my busy tag -eek- but I do like the final result.

I won't even attempt to count how many stamp sets I used LOL but suffice to say, the only one that is not a Heidi Swapp stamp is the Eiffel Tower, which is from the Tim Holtz, Stamper's Anonymous Mini Classics stamp set.
I used some of Heidi's interactive die sets as well as stamps for lots of journaling opportunities. This tag is what Heidi calls "openable" so you can close the tag. At first glance, you're probably wondering where the heck I would have any place for it....
...but the clipboard as well as the tag below, are interactive and have plenty of space for adding personal messages.

Heidi Swapp 10 Day Tag Challenge, Day 8

Today's challenge is to create a travel tag that represents some place you'd like to go, some place you've been, or a travel goal you may have. I had this extra photo from my last cruise and it fit perfectly with today's challenge.

Each of the tags represents an airport I traveled through to finally get to our meet-up point in Athens. First stop, Spokane, about a 2 1/2 hr drive from my house.
The photo is in Kotor, Montenegro taken on my birthday, 2019. My favorite part of that cruise, other than being on the ship, which is my absolute favorite, was Italy. I would go back in heartbeat.

I searched online for vintage airport travel tags as my jumping off point. I super duper love how these turned out!! This one is Spokane International Airport. Never did figure out how their call letters are GEG and not something like SPO or SIA. LOL
Next stop, SeaTac. We could easily have driven to Seattle instead of Spokane, it's about the same distance time-wise. But the traffic is horrid and the airport is so busy, and I don't move as quickly as I used to, so I much prefer Spokane's smaller, less hectic airport where I don't have to try and run. LOL
From SeaTac it was off to Paris, France. I still want to actually visit Paris and see the Eiffel Tower. This was just land and catch the final flight. But I did see the Eiffel Tower from the sky, so there's that. Some day.
And Athens, Greece, my final destination by plane. This was where we (my sister and I took the cruise together) met all the cruise peeps and caught the bus to the ship. Best trip of my life!

Heidi Swapp 10 Day Tag Challenge, Day 7

Today's challenge: find something to celebrate at this point in time. We are celebrating one year of progress in my husband's journey to his new normal, since his lower leg amputation a year ago, July 11. I'm so proud of him and the positive attitude he has shown throughout the entire process. So really, I guess we are celebrating him! I think the colors Heidi used for today's challenge tag are perfectly bright and happy and celebratory. Here is my version of the challenge.

Basically a copy of Heidi's tag with the exception of the sandwich board message. And, of course, I will journal on the tag that fits behind the sign.

Distress Oxide colors are Mustard Seed, Chipped Sapphire, and a little Fossilized Amber and Tumbled Glass.
I forgot to sand the banners before I took the pictures, but they are sanded now. I love the look and texture that sanding gives over white core.
The tag fits behind the sandwich board.

Heidi Swapp 10 Day Tag Challenge, Day 6

Today's challenge is to give yourself permission to do those things you keep putting off - those self-care things we all tell everyone else to do and seem to never get to ourselves. Here is my version of this challenge. Thanks for looking.

My color scheme today is Distress Oxide Chipped Sapphire, Stormy Sky, Peeled Paint and Antique Linen (with a little Lumberjack Plaid thrown in). I don't know why, but I really love tickets. I feel almost like a little kid standing in line at the fair to get on the rides when I think about tickets. Am I too weird for words? Haha!

I am, hereby, giving myself permission to play if I need it, freak out if I need it, eat the snacks for heavens sake (you can't deprive yourself of ALL the goodness ALL the time) and permission to press pause once in a while. We ALL can use a little of that, right?

Warning: Be afraid; Proceed with caution; easily annoyed; hungry
Adulting: ONE star - do not recommend

What are  you giving yourself permission to do that is different than my list? It's going to be fun to see everyone's version of this challenge!

Heidi Swapp 10 Day Tag Challenge, Day 5

Today we are focusing on doing something good. What a lovely message, right? The idea came from a bumper sticker that says, "I hope something good happens today." I made just a little tweak to mine - why hope when you can do it yourself and make it happen!?

We made a lift-up  interactive tag with a space for journaling behind the window, to document the good thing we did/will do.

I think this adorable faux postage stamp die is my favorite part of today's design. Butterflies are really not my thing (I have almost none in my entire craft stash) but this little stamp is the cutest.
Day 5 tag
Journaling spot for when I do that good thing I plan to execute very soon!

Heidi Swapp 10 Day Tag Challenge, Day 4

Today we made a 'slider' tag. The message I wanted to focus on is to stay positive. Life is what you make it, and the more positive you are, the happier your life will be. Appreciate everything!

Hope you like today's very cool interactive tag.
Distress Oxide colors I used for this one, Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky, Antique Linen, Worn Lipstick; ribbons from Heidi Swapp Color Collective in Sorbet, Ballet, and Cream.

Here is the slider pulled out of the tag to show all the positive messages that appear in the window as you slide the tag up.

Heidi Swapp 10 Day Tag Challenge, Day 3

I love working with this stamp set. It's so cute, and not an easy theme to find in the stamping world. Hope you like.

Distress Oxide colors used, Worn Lipstick, Tattered Rose, Saltwater Taffy, Peeled Paint, Walnut Stain
