OCC Day 4, Clear & Sheer

Today's project is something new for me. I've never made an acetate card before but I think I may have to do this more often! This is so much fun. I've used a design by Jennifer McGuire for today's card. Check out how fun to emboss on acetate!

First, let me say I had no acetate cards so I had to improvise. Sizzix cutting pad packaging to the rescue! I cut the piece to size with an x-acto knife and, yes, it is a full A2 size card. And the embossing came out so nicely!

Better look at the heat embossing and glossy accents.

Thank you for checking out today's project. I hope you'll be inspired to use acetate or vellum on your next card, and maybe even sign up for this class. You can find it here at Online Card Classes.

OCC Day 3, Clear & Sheer

This week has flown by! Here we are on our third day of class already. Today we are working with clear acetate. I LOVE working with this medium!! I used Debby Hughes' design as my inspiration today and did this double-tag clear card.

I love the multi layers created by doubling the tag and placing some of the elements on the one behind. This gives it dimension without having to use foam tape or bulky embellishments.

I cut two each of all the elements, one to color, and one without the stamp or coloring. After coloring the stamped set of images, I used the plain white to adhere to the back of each piece so the back of the clear card is clean and no adhesive is showing.

Thanks for coming by today. Be sure to check back tomorrow for another episode of OCC, Clear and Sheer! :)

OCC Day 2, Clear & Sheer

Hello! It's Day 2 of Online Card Class, Clear and Sheer. My card today is a Jennifer McGuire design I've changed up just a bit. I love coloring the vellum - which is so easy to do with just an ink pad and dry cloth.

Here you can see how beautifully vellum can be heat embossed.

Thanks again for coming by to see my class homework. Remember, you can register for any of the Online Card Classes at any time, so if this is one you'd like to try, you can still sign up.

OCC Day 1, Clear & Sheer

Good morning and welcome to Day 1 of Online Card Classes, Clear and Sheer. For this class we'll be working with vellum and acetate. I love working with these awesome products so this class should be lots of fun!

My first project is a Mother's Day card using vellum as an accent. I've heat embossed the sentiment as well as coordinating design to the background of the card, as well as backing the tag with a coordinating accent background piece. Much simpler than it sounds in that one long sentence! Hahaha!!

For the background, I heat embossed and water colored these gorgeous flowers by My Creative Time. My mom's favorite color is blue, so I used blue as my main color. I love how it looks and I think she will too.

Thanks for looking. Be sure to check back each day this week for more projects using vellum and acetate.

Melonheadz Friends, Girly

Well. With FIVE grandgirls and a pink craft room, girly is always a fun theme for me!

For today's project, I made this bookmark for my littlest grandgirl, Emmy. This image is not available to the public, though, sorry. It was made specifically for her 4th birthday a few years ago. On her birthday list were lipstick, a sister baby, a zebra, and sparkles! I did my best to get her what she wanted. :)

I tried to get a shot with the pretty pink tulle ribbons.

Come join us at Melonheadz Friends for this fun challenge!

Happy spring!

I know, I know....it's been a while since I've posted. My crafty mojo took a much needed vacation. Hoping it's back now that the weather is turning springy, sunny, and warm.

Today's project is not a card or scrapbook page or anything paper crafty related at all. I was so inspired by a super cute alternative to a spring wreath by Sadie Seasongoods I saw on Hometalk, that I had to make one for myself. The straw bag from the Goodwill coast about $2.50, the flowers at the dollar store were maybe $7, and the cute embellishment on the front is from my crafty stash.

Hope you're enjoying spring weather where you are. I can't believe there is still so much snow happening in parts of the country!
