CASology Week 165: Circles

This week's inspiration is circles. I love circles. They are so much less pointy than squares. ;) I decided to use a little different technique, rather than adhering them directly on my panel. Instead, I cut out the circles first then "filled them in" with the pattern paper circles I cut for my design. Fun!

The sentiment is from Thankful Hearts, by Verve Stamps, the flag banner is My Favorite Things (no longer available), and the circle dies are Quickutz. Pattern papers are random pieces from my scrap bin.

Paper Smooches, SPARKS Challenge

Today's SPARKS challenge theme is Anything Goes. I chose to make a Halloween themed card using non-Halloween stamps. It was fun going through my stash to see which sets I could use and how to use them. That was a fun challenge in itself. I hope you like how it turned out.

The Paper Smooches stamp sets I used are:
Ahoy Me Hearty - message in a bottle, rum jug, skull and crossbones
Wicked Nauticool - plank, for the shelf
Briny Blue - bubbles above the purple potion
Southwestern Charm - let's fiesta sentiment
Kitschy Kitchen - don't be afraid to stir things up and we mix well sentiments

I altered the bottles a bit and I love how they work for my potions and elixirs!

Here's my own sentiment I created using pieces of three different stamps.

CASology Cue Card: Umbrella

Here we are, another Monday and another new week. Hope you're ready, cuz ... well, we have no choice, do we! LOL

Today’s card is for CASology.  I used this cute little stamp by My Creative Time for my CAS card. The image and sentiment are both from the stamp set called I’m Here For You, Rain or Shine. The background hearts are by Lawn Fawn from the Teeny Tiny Backdrops stamp set.

Hope you enjoyed today's project. If you're interested in any of the products I used, I've linked them in the narrative for easy access. :)

Thanks for coming by the studio!

Melonheadz Friends, Try Something New challenge!

Ok, I admit that shakers are not all that new to me, but I did try something a little different this time. I printed itty bitty images from the Halloween Stuff set to add to the sequins in my shaker! The zombie eyeball (so cute!) and the adorable little bat are perfect, don't you think so?!

Please join us for this fun challenge at Melonheadz Friends and you could win free digis by my enormously talented friend Nikki, aka Melonheadz Illustrating. :)

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Happy birthday to my hubster!

This post, however, is all about the hubs. He is considering himself officially old today as he will be applying for Social Security, which means I will tease him about his age, unmercifully, for the next nine months (until I also turn SS age! LOL). Anyway, when I saw this stamp set, called Holy Carp!, by Skipping Stones Designs, I HAD to have it! It is positively PERFECT for my fishing-loving husband. He fishes every single day he is able which means (now that he is basically retired) every day it is "warm enough", according to him. :) Works for me!

He is a fly fisher so he rarely sits in a boat anymore, but I loved the images in this set and had to use them. The sentiments, however, could not be any better. Each of these is an individual stamp so I combined them to make my message.

I stamped the image twice and colored them. Then I cut the fisherman out of one of the images and attached with foam tape for dimension. I colored his "outfit" the same as what hubs usually wheres when he goes fishing.

For a finishing touch, I added glossy accents to the water to make it look really "wet" and for added texture.

Thanks for coming by today. I'll likely be spending a lot of my day helping someone look up all the info he needs to fill out paperwork. ;)

My Creative Time, Fall Friends

Another card using the newest My Creative Time release. This set includes super cute little woodland animals and fun accessory pieces to go with the. I used them to make my shaker card and treat bag topper. Did you notice, the sentiment is INSIDE the shaker! :)

Cutie patootie little beaver sits on a stump. The acorns and leaves inside the shaker are part of this set as well. Adorbs! The little clump of grass at the base of the stump is from the Prehistoric Holidays set, also a new release this month.

I love the ivy and thought it was the perfect piece to balance my "scene".

And the treat bag topper....this little guy is so sweet.

My Favorite Things, Sketch #244

This was fun! To create the dark, cloudy-like background, I used a color wash of black soot distress ink on watercolor paper. I used Distress Sprays in Spiced Marmalade and Black Soot for the splatters, then added a few sequins.

The bat and sentiment are from the Birdie Brown, Witch Way is The Candy sets. Bat is colored with copics and heat embossed with clear powder, then attached with foam tape over the top of my washi tape layers.
