Welcome to the first day of sneak peeks of the August release. The set we are featuring today is called Fun Vertical Greetings. I used four of the six stamps on this one birthday card. For my background I used the Birthday Buddies set, embossing the balloons and party hats, then water coloring them with distress inks.

For the party banners, I used the Vintage Label and Banner die cutting them in different lengths to fit the sentiment, and stamping in colors to match the cardstock. Tossed on a few sequins and adhered to a purple mat on the card front and done!

Product List:
My Creative Time, Fun Vertical Greetings *new release*

My Creative Time, Vintage Label and Banner die
Zing embossing powders, Cricket, Apricot, Lavender
Hero Arts inks, Orange Soda, Green Hills, Passion Flower

Designer Challenge - color palette!

Welcome to the new challenge at My Creative Time. This challenge is a color challenge. I love the color palette we have for you this time. Here is my rendition!

I decided to add my colors using embossing powder and used the watercolor stripe stamps for my design. For the sentiment, I used the "dream bigger" stamp but with a slight twist.....I heat embossed just the "and" in color, and the remaining words in black for a little more interest.

And in place of the gray tones {they are gray to my eye; someone else said they look more purple....hmmm} I used silver. I love the silver embossing powder and added sequins and silver cardstock strips along the upper and lower edges to really make it pop. For even more texture, I added sequins, gems and pearls.

We hope you'll join us for this challenge. To get you started, here's your inspiration photo!
Product List:
My Creative Time, Build a Scripty/Watercolor background stamp
My Creative Time, Build a Stripey background stamps
My Creative Time, Dream Bigger stamp
Embossing powder; Zing cricket, apricot and mustard; silver, sequins, gems, pearls, silver cardstock

Back to School Challenge at Melonheadz!

The new challenge is up at Melonheadz Friends! I love back to school, so this was a super fun one for me. I hope you'll join us for this fun challenge, too. :)

I used the School Subjects Kidlettes set for my card. This is the library girl....most of my grandgirls are library girls, so I thought this would be perfectly fitting. Besides, isn't she adorbsies!?

I colored her with copics, added a pearl to her hair bow, then cut her out and attached with foam tape to my card front. Then I decided she needed a wink of stella, so a little bit of sparkle was added as well. Love that stuff.

Be sure to link up with us to be entered in the prize drawing too! :) See you there!!

Product List:
Melonheadz Illustrating, School Subject Kidlettes bundle
Copic markers, Wink of Stella glitter marker
My Creative Time, Love to Learn dies and stamps
October Afternoon, Schoolhouse 8x8 paper pad
Paper clip, pearl bead, chalk, white pen

Scrapping the Little Things

Good morning, it's MONDAY and time for Scrapping the Little Things with the My Creative Time Design Team. Hope you had an awesome weekend, and Monday is being nice to you. :) I'm happily enjoying my Monday morning coffee. But let's get down to the biz.

I made -- are you sitting down???? -- my very first ever SMASH BOOK PAGE!!!!! Check it out. This is my hubby at one of his favorite fishing holes. Can't really tell but he's up high above the water on a cliff looking at the lake below.

The water is so clear you can see if there are fish or not. This day, unfortunately, there were none. Boo. But I got a few awesome pictures and honestly that's all I cared about. LOL

Day 10, SYS2, Cards 2 & 3

Two more techniques from class today! This one is colored embossing - yummy.

And this is layered vellum stamping. Pretty cool - of course much better in real life. ;)

Day 10, Stretch Your Stamps 1 of 3 cards

This card was such fun for me as I got to make my own faux chipboard letters. You probably know, if you are a follower, how much I love my dies and making chipboard shapes/letters with them, so this one is right up my alley. :)

Letters are Quickutz Alpha, Diesel Classic, upper case.

Day 9, Stretch Your Stamps2, Post #2

My second card is stamping on dark cardstock and embossing with a die. I love this look and embossing without cutting is a technique I really like and don't use enough. After I embossed the sentiment box onto my card, I stamped all around in an ink color a little darker than the cardstock. I then went back and added just a few shadows using the same color in a different shade.

My sentiment and double hearts are by Verve Stamps; the foliage is by WPlus9.
