Online Card Classes, Watercolor background

After taking the watercolor for card making class this week, I had some pieces on my worktop that I wasn't all that happy with. Still, I did not toss them out but left them as I worked on other pieces. When I later picked this one up I had every intention of tossing it as it didn't turn out as I was hoping for a horizontal card. I'm glad I didn't act so fast, because as I turned it around and looked at it a different way, it looked completely different and I loved it! Lesson learned -- change your view!

To "paint" the background, I used shimmer spritz colors in blue, brown and olive. I used the background vertically instead of my original plan, and I think it works really well. I used this tree stamp by Inkadinkadoo in multiple layers in two different colors, Distress Ink forest moss and -I think it was- bundled sage.

I love how the darkest of the greens makes almost a shadow effect beneath the trees. When I finished, it just seemed so serene and tranquil, I knew it had to be a sympathy card. The sentiment is from the Many Greetings set by My Creative Time.

I hope you've enjoyed my watercolor projects this past week. It's been a great class. Now if I can remember to use the techniques I learned on future projects... ;)
