Coin Envelope Mini Book

Happy hump day! We made it...another week half over already. To my bloggy friends and their families who have been sick, please know I'm thinking of you and saying prayers for your recovery. This has been such a nasty year of bugs, germs, and all the yuk that goes along with sick.We are still feeling ill affects and it has been a couple of months now for us as well. FEEL BETTER!!! :)

Ok, so for today's project I had planned to make a mini book. When I started, this is pretty much nothing like I expected I would end up with but I totally love this!!!! It was not easy to do the binding, I'll say that right out of the gate. I have never done this accordion fold thing before and after watching several videos and checking several tutorials, mine still didn't turn out like any of those I saw. LOL!!! But the book holds together and that's the important thing I guess. ;)

For the cover I used this fab paper, already printed this way, by My Minds Eye, Lost & Found 2, Sunshine collection. Almost all of the papers in this book are from the 6x6 paper pad from that collection, as well as most of the buttons and brads.

Here you can see the accordion fold binding. Doesn't look half bad here, but seriously, don't look too close.  And as much as I would love to share how I did it, there are so many steps I went through that were wrong I don't know that I could explain how I ended up with something that works anyway. My recommendation is to check you tube for 'accordion fold binding' - or something similar. If/when I get to where I can do this in a reasonable time frame I'll try to remember to share that on the blog at some point.

For the closure, I used a brad on the front and twine with a knot through an eyelet on the back.

The open end of the book. I love lumpy, clumpy and chunky!
 The open view.

Inside 'pages' are coin envelopes. The flaps are tucked inside but not glued down in case you want to use them. Each envelope/pocket contains a tag.

I pretty much fell for my hubs the first time I saw him. His sexy motorcycle did nothing to dissuade me from falling either. ;)

These are the tags that are tucked inside the pocket/envelope pages. They can be used for journaling, photos, love notes or whatever you wish.

I love embellishing and the tags add so much fun, and chunk!, to the book.

Thanks for checking out my 3D project today. I really love it and hope you are inspired to make one too. Mini books are so super fun for me, I need to remember that I don't have to have a reason to make one! LOL Go forth and create, my favorite peeps! ♥

  1. Your book turned out great I always say there are no real mistakes in creating anything it's just an adventure of trial and error and fixes whether it's a card, a LO or a craft. You went thru a lot of decision making and your book turned out awesome it's different as you say but you did it and it turned out fantastic. Kudos and have never tried anything like this but would love to.
