Another flower tutorial for you...and a little bonus tip too!

When I started working on my card I wasn't sure if I wanted a small or large label for my sentiment, so I tried both. These dies are the bracket pages from the Sugarplum and Gingerbread mini books from the Quickutz Santa's Workshop gift set.

To make my sentiment label, I folded a piece of cardstock {to fit the die I chose} and ran it through the cutter placing my paper with the fold inside where it would not be cut. You can use this technique on pretty much any shape to make a card or folding shape from cookie cutter style dies. Tape it in place to keep it from shifting while you cut.

Be sure to fold your paper right sides together so that the tape won't ruin the good side when you remove it.

and here's the finished background label. I ended up using the larger of the two sizes for my card. You can diminish the fold by using the bone folder on both sides of the paper to smooth it out. If you use non textured paper, the fold should be barely visible if at all after you "un" crease it.

For this flower, I used Tim Holtz tattered florals die by Sizzix. I cut four of the medium size blossom and one of the smallest in a different shade of blue than my flower. If you choose to ink the edges, do that now. I added cinnamon Stickles to the flower pieces before assembling. {and let it dry first, of course.}

Then I spritzed them all with water and ran them all through the paper crimper a couple of times to soften them and make the paper more pliable. I take a bone folder to smooth them out after the last run through the paper crimper but it's not a necessary step. You can smooth them with your fingers just as well.

Spritz again, squish up each one again, then unsquish and stack the four larger pieces together.

Pierce through the center of the stacked flowers and secure together with a mini brad.

To make the flower center piece, fold the petals of the small flower toward the middle, forming sort of a little cup shape.

Fold up each layer up around the brad and squish it all tight. Unsquish and shape it how you want it and secure the center piece to the brad with hot glue or other strong adhesive.

Embellish the flower center with stickles, button, bling or whatever you like; I used amber bling by Imaginisce for my flower; and add some leaves.
