Birthday card for Gracie

My baking buddy, crafting buddy, scrapping buddy and grandgirl, Grace, will be {are you sitting down!??} 8 years old next Saturday. I just can't believe it. :( This is her birthday card.

Rev label, 2x2 ice cream carton and scoop. Inside I used Gazebo font and 'birthday' from the Rev happy birthday phrase, scoops of ice cream from the banana split die, cone from the 2x2 ice cream cone, and the 2x2 splat for the drips, and added lots of stickles in neapolitan 'flavors'.

It's only snow

Quickutz used are the new Gazebo alphabet, Fiesta alphabet, nesting ovals, and A's exclusive sparkle. Papers are Basic Grey Dasher and matching bazzill cardstock.

Journaling:
Poor Emmy! Her first snow at 12 months. She looks rather unhappy here, but she loved playing out in the snow. Trouble is, when you're only two feet tall and there are six inches of snow on the ground, it's hard to walk. Especially if you only just learned how!

We passed the 10K mark!!

Wow! Thanks to all who visit my blog and to those who leave comments. :) What a good feeling to know you feel that what I share is worth looking at. LOL

Sweet Baby Emmy

Our precious grandbaby, Emmalyn Louise, at Grampa's last summer. Pattern paper is Basic Grey, Mellow. Title font is QK Fiesta with journaling in matching computer font. Border punch is doily lace by Martha Stewart, my all-time favorite border punch in the whole entire universe. ;)

New QK Gazebo alphabet

Isn't this a cute, perky little alphabet! I think it fits perfectly for this brightly colored, happy page. This is Little Miss Grace at 12 months, peeking into the magnetic mirror I used to keep on my fridge. She had more fun with that thing. I had the camera ready when I got her to peek at me through the mirror. I miss her pudgy little hands and chubby cheeks!

Flowered paper is Making Memories, tiny dot paper and flower embellishments are Stampin Up. Other elements used: buttons, ribbon, foam tape, Cat's Eye inks.

New QK font...Yogurt Grand

Wow!!! Look at all the new alphabets. I'm in font heaven!!!! And lucky me, I got to work with my favorite for this release. :) I love this font. Yea, I know, I say that about every font I use, but it's true!

For this simple page I used the yummy Yogurt for the title, A's exclusive arrow, the 4x4 plate from the cooking release, and the 4x4 sun. Subtitle are baby boy letter brads (company unknown), journal stamp is Autumn leaves, ink, punch, and patter papers are Stampin' Up.

TFL!

Page 2:
I love the look on Gracie's face in these pics. She loves fishing with grampa Randy, she just doesn't care all that much for actually catching fish. LOL No touching of the fish for this girly girl. LOL

Ok, Quickutz fanz

You are gonna love the new alphabets that are coming out. I'm lucky to get to play ahead of time, and have two of them already. Might I just say they are fabulous. But you don't have to take my word for it (since you already know I'm a sucker for an awesome font!!!). In about 23 hours you'll get to see for yourself!! That's not all. There are other goodies coming as well. And I've seen pictures! ;)

Not to mention even MORE coming from CHA next week. Hold onto your hats and keep an ice pack handy to cool off your credit cards!

Stay tuned......

Party animal!

Pattern papers are from the Nana's Kids stack by DCWV. Dies used: Happy birthday Rev die, 2x2 number candles, confetti border. Stickles accent the confetti and candle flames. Inside font is Snowday, 2x2 moose, and party hat is made from the smallest tree triangle from the Merry & Bright set, star from the 2x2 mini punctuation doublekutz die. Money/gift card slot made simply by matching a piece of pattern paper over the top of the card and adhereing the top and bottom. Voila, easy money slot!

Act 2: Winter Breakdown

sorry for the bow in the photo...that happened in the stitching process.

Quickutz used:
Magnolia, Studio Skinni mini, nesting circles, 4x4 file folder, A's exclusive sparkles, A's exclusive hearts border.
Papers are Basic Grey, Granola with matching Bazzill cardstock and glazed brads.

Journaling in the auto maintenance folder:
Obviously, Randy needed a work vehicle while the old beast was waiting for repairs. So off he went in search of a work truck. After his first three snow covered choices didn't even turn over, he found this one and it started on the first try. Big selling point! After a little clean up and a couple of new tires, he's back in business. And the best part, it's an automatic so I can drive it too...if he ever gets the old Ford back on the road again, that is. (I mean WHEN.) Happy New Year!

Winter break.....down

Journaling is in the Auto Repair folder ;) The story goes like this.

The truck started acting up around Thanksgiving time; actually I think it was before then. Randy replaced this part and it would run ok, then he'd replace that part and it would run ok but still not good, and so it went, replacing just one more thing, until finally it wouldn't run at all. Of course, then the snow came and it got so cold he couldn't work on it anymore for fear of breaking wires from the brutal cold freezing them. So, after years (and I do mean years!) of trying to convince him to get another truck, he finally had no choice. (Which brings us to the sequel--layout in progress.) It has now become a grudge match and he is determined to get that beast running again if it kills him! Pics were taken Christmas Eve Day. As of today, January 16, 2009, it is still sitting there, in the same spot in the driveway, laughing at Randy. Cruel!!

Basic Grey Granola and matching glazed brads w/ matching Bazzill cardstock
QK dies used:
Magnolia cc alphabet
Studio Classic alphabet
Studio skinni mini alphabet
4x4 file folder
4x4 Archiver's Exclusive sparkles
Nesting circles
Nesting rectangles
CC winter shapes
2x2 bunny

Belated Birthday Card

Have you seen The Green Stack by DCWV? I love this stack! I had given up buying "stacks" because there are always so many papers I would end up not using, but this whole stack is darling! I love the texture of the papers and the little creatures are hilariously adorable. When I first saw this skunk I really had no idea how I would use it, but then I came up with this card idea and knew it was perfect. This card is for my dear, sweet friend, Mae. I'm glad she knows and appreciates my goofy sense of humor. :)

Crack up

Pattern papers are Basic Grey, Mellow. Pattern ribbons are a few of the American Crafts spools I picked up at Craft Warehouse on Friday, ovals and scallops are Spellbinders dies, eggs and carton are 2x2 QK, title is Bright, journaling box is the QK Club recipe card. Other dies: cookies from the Rev cookies and milk doublekutz, and the 2x2 chocolate drop.

Journaling reads: Oct. 2008 - You did it! You cracked an egg without getting any shells in it! You were so proud and I was so impressed. We had a fun time making White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies. But it was even more fun laughing at Grampa Randy just trying to say the name right.

What's Your Word?

Quite honestly, this surprises me. I would have thought a much more intellectual word rather than an emotional one. But I like it. What's your word? Take the quiz by clicking the link below my results. **I should clarify. It's the word itself that surprises me. The description, I must say, is spot on. :)**

Your Word is "Love"

You see life as possibility to form deep connections with a few people.

Relationships are the center of your world, and you always take time to bond with those you love.

You are caring and giving. You enjoy helping those you love.

And when it comes to romantic love, you feel passionately ... even in a very long term relationship.

Her Royal Cuteness

Gracie in her damsel hat at Jeffery's Royal Birthday Party in 02. (If you look closely, you can see Grampa Randy in the background of the bottom photo wearing his crown. LOL) Grace has always loved wearing hats; hats of any size, shape, style or color. She was 11 months old here and you can just tell by the look on her face how proud she was to be posing in her pretty pink party hat with the long, flowing streamers behind her.

For this layout I've used the Basic Grey Eva collection and the December release QuicKutz dies. In case you hadn't figured it out yet, I love these dies. ;) And they are just the perfect match to these papers so it's a winning combination all around. Dies used here are: 4x4 crown (Rev0146), 4x4 pennant (Rev0155), 4x4 damask (Rev0149) and the 2x2 crown (0894); alphabets are MaryJane, Chocolate and Storybook.

Themed party favors

I have a dozen birthdays to think about just for March alone, so I'm already gearing up for party central. LOL Here are a few fun ideas for party favors using the December and January QK dies.
1) This adorable crown is the perfect accent for a Princess (or Prince) party.

2) This treat box was easier to make than it looks. Actually, I cheated, but even so.....I traced around a box I received as a gift and used it as a template. Cut it out, make a few score lines, and voila! Adorable treat box. I used the Rev label and the December QK Club die, chess pieces, to embellish and the 2x2 crown for a tag. I don't belong to a chess club, but I had to use these dies and thought this would be the cutest little goody if I did belong to a chess club. LOL!

Here is the box opened to see how easy it was to make.

3) Another treat bag for a theme party. I used the new Rev lantern die to embellish this Asian theme favor, using gold ribbon and an Asian coin to complete the theme.

Here is the side view of the treat bag. See how simple it is.

4) And lastly a couple of cards. :) TFL!

More midnight snow pics

For the first time in who knows how long, school is closed here today due to the snow. This is what it looked like at midnight when I went to bed, and it was still snowing. Randy's last words before he went to bed last night were, "I hope the roof doesn't cave in." Gee, hon. Thanks for those parting words.....am I supposed to be able to relax and sleep easy now!? LOL! Well, no caving, thank God, but it's sure piled high up there!!!

From inside the front door I took this shot of some icicles:
This is the driveway from the back door.

Sympathy card

Inside Message:

Dec QK Releases finally arrived!

After the long wait for the December release, I have to say it was totally worth it. I love the damask dies, the label is fabulous, and they just are so worth the wait. I think they are much more versatile than you might think when you first see them and would look especially great on wedding or anniversary pages, but would also work well with princess-type projects and heritage photos.

Sorry for the kittywompus photo here - it's attached with temporary adhesive (and slipped in the scanner obviously) as I will be replacing the actual photo when I get a good one printed out. I printed this one myself and the photo paper I got is absolute crud and the photo looks like doody in real life. :( Anyway, for this page I used QuicKutz Rev0149 doublekutz damask die, Rev0147 label, and cookie cutter alpha, MaryJane for the monogram. The papers are from Scrapbuggy's December QuicKitz, Basic Grey Eva collection. This is one of my favorite color combinations and truly, a scan doesn't do them justice. Photo is my daughter and her family; scanned, cropped and enlarged from her Christmas card. TFL!
